  1. Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that. I have been in your situation before when I didn't have a good gpa. I was desperated to be a nurse like you was. Then I applied about 8 schools, and got turned down everywhere. Then I started applying outside of California, and fortunately got accepted in Denver. I also did volunteer at a local hospital before I applied for nursing school. I still have 1 more year left of the nursing program. So if you think you can relocate, then try to apply to other states because you never know. The school that I'm going to, Denver school of nursing, doesn't require high gpa, as long as you completed all of the required class, they will accept you eventually. if you need more infor about Denver school of nursing, you can search on google Don't give up to be a nurse
  2. Denver school of nursing in Colorado
  3. hi cutiebabyfat Most of california nursing programs are so competitive to get in, I think you should apply many nursing programs as you can because you never know. While waiting, you can apply volunteer jobs at the hospital, which is very helpful for some nursing programs that have point system. I did wait two years for nursing program in california however I got accepted into the nursing program in Denver. I decide to move back to california once I finished school. you should consider nursing programs in other states too because they are less competitive unlike California Good luck!
  4. hi there, I think you have a great chance to get in with your current gpa, the only thing you should concern is the TEAS score, it would help you a lot if you can retake and get above 90. Since there is no limitation of retaking TEAS at the CSUEB, you should retake it as soon as possible. For the in-progress classes, you are allowed to apply for the program while you still have 1 or 2 in-progress classes, they will calculate your gpa base on how may pre-reqs classes you took, not included the in-progress classes Do you have other nursing programs in mind beside the CSUEB? Good luck!
  5. I heard from my teacher that it does help with financial aid, and I'm sure alot of people are interested in the financial aid than Sallie mae loan Right now, only University of Phoenix would take credits from DSON, so wait until they become NLN accreditation
  6. Monday: Health assessment lecture 9am-12 ---------Health assessment lab 1-3:30pm Tuesday: Pathophysiology 9-12 Wednesday: Topic of nursing 8am-11 ------------Pharmacology 1-3:30 Thursday: Pathophysiology 9-12 -----------Pharmacology: 1-3:30 Friday: Assessment test, TEAS and critical thinking (only for the first week of the quarter) If you took the pharmacology and patho already, your schedule would be much better. Quang
  7. Hi Army, I did try to look for you in the class, but could not find you there, so I was wondering what happened We have been in classes for 4 weeks, and there are alot of reading materials, tests and quizzes keep coming every weeks and this is how the first quarter supposes to be, so I try to hang in there. There are some students from California and other states too. The teachers are helpful and informative, you'll like it there. For the sallie mae loan, I got approved $36,000 for 15yrs (payback $97,000) with 2 cosigners, but I didn't go for it, I only borrowed $20,000, for 5 yrs and pay $16,000 with cash, so I will end up pay the loan back $25,000. Good luck to you Quang
  8. Hi June I'm attending the BSN program this fall too. I went to the orientation on Oct 26. I just found a place about 25 minutes away from school (Arvada). If you posted this 3 days ago, I would have called you for the roommate. Hopefully there is still someone who needs a room. I'm looking forward to see you at the first week assessment test on Friday. Good luck!
  9. Hi there I think there are about 45-50 questions in the Reading part, you'll be given paragraphs, and ask to choose the right mainpoints of the paragraph or the author's purposes, or find the definitions. They might give you a map, ask you which direction you should go to get there, South, west, east or North. If English is your first language, then I'm sure you will be ok. Remember, the TEAS is just like a 11th grade test. If you can get yourself a ATI study manual, that would help you alot to prepare for the TEAS. Good luck!
  10. 2. 100% is the answer because every generation, the disease is being passed down to either male or female. 4.Without light, the gel would die first, and lead the fish died because both live coexisten with each other. The answer is both fish and gel died. 5. If two species, A and B, live in a same community and compete for a same type of food. If specy A eat all the food resources, the graph is going up, then specy B don't have much food available, the graph is going down. The graph you should look for is like, if graph A go up, graph B go down and other way around. 6. A is the highest bar in the graph while B is the lower bar in the graph. The highest bar mean the chance for that specy to survive is higher, so the answer is A (highest bar) 7. If I remember correctly the answer should be F because F is the only graph that is not starting from zero, but somewhere on the x-axis line. Precipitated means when a solid substance is formed during the chemical reaction. Hope this help! Good luck with your next TEAS
  11. As far as I know, the nursing courses are non transferable, so everything has to depend on your pre-reqs to apply for other nursing programs. If you got accepted into the accelerated bsn, then I don't see a reason why you can't get into other nursing programs because all the pre-reqs are the same.So just go and apply for it, you have nothing to lose. Your only problem now is financial, so you should apply to schools that have financial aid and offer loan at the same time. wish you the best of luck
  12. Hi there I think now it is the right time to pursue the Nursing, don't you think? like you said you have been dreamming to study nursing, but you haven't had time, now you do, so why not. You are just 1 step away. For the tuition, there are many ways you can pay for school like financial aid, loans, and scholarships. Good luck
  13. sorry to hear that, but I guess they changed the TEAS's content for reasons. Hopefully they're gonna use the old TEAS again. so just hang in there.
  14. What part do you think you didn't do well? I know that if you can't figure out the correct answers, you're just gonna repeat the same score over again without improving it. For the Math part, I think there are 60 questions, so you have to do it fast in order you can finish in time. In the science part, I think I still remember some questions, but I'm not sure they are the same with your TEAS 1. given Z 65/30, how many neutron are there? 2. Given a chart of family carried disease, how many % the grandchild is affected? 3. which body's organ produces insulin? 4. Fish and gel, what happened if the light permantly loss? 5. When two species compete for food, what type of graph is correct? A or B or C 6.Given two bars A and B, which population has higher chance of survive? 7. Given a graph of compound A, B, C, D or F, which compound is precipitated? 8. How many qts per 1 cup? That's all I can recall.
  15. Hi there Most people, who take the TEAS, have difficulties with the science part, so if you can recall any science questions and post them here would be great, because we can help each other out. 82% is good enough for Community colleges, but not good enough for Universities. How many times can you retake the Teas, Does your school take the highest scores overall?
