Just because a program will take your application with unfinished pre-reqs doesn't mean you'll get in. They probably had more applicants with all pre-reqs done and filled up their seats with those students first. Finish your courses and then re-apply. Or start looking for other programs in your area and hope you haven't missed the application deadline.

Do you have any extracurricular activities? most colleges will take someone who has B's and either has quite an extensive background in volunteer work or medical work over someone with As who has no experience in the field or no diverse background. I got into quite a few colleges with a 3.2 gpa (3.4 science gpa) with over 5k hours volunteer service as a firefighter and EMT and was told by many advisers the volunteer work shows colleges I can work with many different age groups, under pressure and can follow through with things.

Even if you do, Id suggest doing more in the medical field, either CNA, CMA, nurses aide, EMT, patient care tech, etc. Those people stand out because they have an understanding of the healthcare field, and if you get really involved and do things such as teach CPR classes (licensed to teach of course) you can really stand out.

I agree with SopranoKris! Try again when you're all done with your pre-reqs!

Another thing to look into is whether or not your letters of recommendation are, in fact, good. That could really sink you.

Anecdote alert! I've heard of applicants unknowingly submitting 'less-than-stellar' letters of recommendation from people who weren't more upfront about their reservations of the applicant's abilities. While letters of recommendation should be confidential and candid, I do think that people should decline to write the letter if they do not support the nursing candidate's goals.

Everyone that I know, that got into nursing school, had every single general education class complete. Some applied the year before and were denied, but once everything was done they got in. Finish up and apply again next year.

I agree that you need to finish all of your classes and then reapply. The college that I am planning on going to accepts applications even if you have not finished all pre-requisites but they gave you a "C" as your grade for the class so it can really hurt your chances of getting in. Over all your grades look good. Another idea may be to look at other colleges in your area and see if you can get in there.

Try volunteering at your local hospital or completing a CNA program. Having a little 'experience' will look great on your application and then reapply. Hang in there!
