Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Nclex-RN NY

Nursing Students NCLEX

For those residing in NY and have been approved for DACA:Have you taken your NCLEX, or applying for it? If so, question #22 under citizenship/immigration status which choice did you select?ncjaio.jpgThe one that makes the most sense is choice H. Non-Immigrant (Temporarily in U.S).On the blank space below for immigration status should I write: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (c33)? It's a new process so it only makes sense as to why it's not included as a choice. But I'm afraid that the BON might not be too familiar with DACA and might delay my application.Any thoughts? Any information related to this is very much appreciated. Thank you.

No I don't believe I had to submit documentation to prove that I have DACA but check anyway if they require it. I used my native country passport. DO NOT use your NY state ID. It says temporary visitor on it and they will not let you sit for the test. As long as you use your passport from your native country (make sure it's not expired) then you do not have to worry. They do not ask you for your status when you go to Pearson for your NCLEX

I was wondering if you took the NCLEX and if you are able to get RN in Florida with DACA status. Please let me know, I currently live in SC and this state will not allow us to sit for NCLEX with DACA status.

Im not sure if i heard right but someone in my school was saying that if u use your native county passport, nclex will turn u away and im scared. I was doing some research and apparently they want an id that is government issued and name has to match ur ATT. But you said u have no issues with using your native passport. And also realized that my NY state is says Temp Visitor. So does that mean i cant use it at all? The other id i have is my work permit and native passport

I live in NY so I'm not sure about how Florida or SC works.

I am speaking from my experience taking the NCLEX January 2014 in New York. Your native passport IS a government issued ID and therefore should match with the name on your ATT. DO NOT use your NY state ID. Use your unexpired native passport.

Deafeningthoughts today one of the staff who helpmed me complete the application for deffered action told me that they spoke to someone from office of the proffesions and said that i am not able to get a nursing liscence with daca bc its not lawful status. They said i can sit for the test but i cannot get the liscence. What do you think i should do because if you were able to get it then i should be able to get it too. I even spoke to the BON and they told me i can sit for the test. Please help

I am just going to reiterate what I said before regarding MY experience from January 2014:

1) Once you get your ATT and scheduled a test, use your unexpired native passport.

2) If/When you pass your NCLEX, you WILL receive your nursing license.

Thank you so much defeatingthoughtts

@deafeningthoughts I am a DACA senior nursing student from NC. My NC driver's licensee says "legal presence no lawful status" do you think this may put me in the clear to take the nclex or does it pretty much mean the same thing as "temp"?

@nosde I am also a nursing student in NC. When do you take your NCLEX? I am trying to figure out if I will be able to take mine due to the same issue. Have you tried using your passport?

@cypalomo I just started my senior year so I plan on taking the NCLEX June/July 2016. I am in the process of contacting the board to become better informed about this issue. I am more than glad to update you when I get a better understanding.

Hey guys im in texas. I am so lost. and do not know what to do. life has always been hard with our issue. but this seems like a dead end. have you found anything else?
