I am looking to purchase a new stethoscope...
I am undecided on a Litman (not a good speller) or the Ultrascope... If anyone could give me some suggestions or your thoughts, that would be great...
After I am done with school I am planning in working in Pedatrics or Labor and Delivery.. I would like to continue school to become a midwife... I thought that I would add that in because maybe one scope would be better for the feild I wanna be in after school... Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

I have the Littman Cardio 3 and love it. However, everyone is different. I hear some who love the electronic scopes, others who hate it. Same with just about any type or brand. I tried someone's scope with a short tubing and it was great but you have to get waaaaay to close and personal with the patient.
I recommend finding a store with a variety of scopes and that will allow you to try before buying (they do exist), or finding friends who will let you try theirs. Just remember to clean them and don't walk off with them.
Started out with a Littman Classic-couldn't hear a thing. Upgraded to a Littman Cardiology II last year and it's amazing! I love it- one of my coworkers tried it this week and she thought it was great too. Littman will even print your name right on the rubber tubing-I'd never seen that before I got mine.

Whatever you get, though, make sure you keep good track of it! Hubby has lost a few, and they're expensive. He just lays them down somewhere and then walks off and forgets about them until the next time he needs to listen to something. Put your name on it, and don't lend it to anyone. I work with one gal who lends hers to any doc who asks. She's replaced three or four, all at her own expense. DUMB!
