December Graduates and Kaplan for NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello! Any December/recent nursing grads using Kaplan for your NCLEX prep?

What was the deciding factor in choosing Kaplan over other resources?

I am contemplating the live review after I graduate. Nursing school online is horrendous and I need more structure.

Hey there,

If I can throw my $0.02 in, I would highly recommend switching to UWorld if you are planning on taking the NCLEX soon. I used Kaplan as well as UWorld, and I have to say that the latter was extremely effective in preparing me to take the exam.

There is a package deal which provides all 2000+ questions, alongside 2 exams and I highly recommend it.

Take the first exam when you first purchase the package, and see where you are currently. The test will tell you in broad spectrums what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what areas of nursing (OB, critical thinking, assessment and planning, etc.) that you should work on. It will explain to you your chances of passing the NCLEX based on your score. For reference, my first exam I took gave me a 42% chance on passing without studying, which I felt appropriate. After studying for 2 weeks straight and completing the full question bank I took the second exam and scored a 98% chance of passing.

The question bank allows you to pick and choose which areas you wish to focus on. I was in and out of my NCLEX in under 30 minutes, which despite my instructor screaming at me when I called her that I need to take my time and not to rush, was a wonderful feeling knowing that I was finished and passed in the minimum requirement of 60 questions.

Good luck, study hard, and be proud to know that you are graduating in one of the most difficult and strange times of nursing history.

Amazing! Thank you for your input! Can I ask what is so different about the questions between UWorld and Kaplan? Both have question banks with rationales as well as individual assessments...but UWorld does not have a live classroom option. I’ll take all the information I can  get!

Two years ago, I registered with Kaplan for in-person review.  I believe the first time they cancelled, it was the night before.  After rescheduling for weeks later and reassuring no cancellation would occur again, they cancelled again just days before the session.  There was a third cancellation, and six months later they were still trying to get an in-person session together.  They claimed not enough students want in-person review so if not enough students sign up for in-person review, Kaplan does not want to pay for the space and instructors’ cost when only one or two students register.

I ended up taking the Kaplan on-line review, I wish I had asked for my money back.  Kaplan claims their sample exams are similar to actual NCLEX, but I found no similarities.

Good luck!

Hello. I must admit I am biased. I used Kaplan, Klimec notes, and Youtube videos. The tips were very helpful. The qbank has some questions that are similar to NCLEX. Their display resembles NCLEX too. Klimec is amazing.

P.S. I recently took the exam and PASSED ???

P.S.S. Everyone will have their own opinion. Choose a program that's best for you.

Amazing! Thank you! A friend just told me about klimic notes...so I’ll for sure take a look! Congrats!

I’ve been utilizing Hurst review in preparation for my RN NCLEX. The questions are very much difficult but they indicate students will pass on first try with there study program. My nursing program also utilized the HESI exit. Any students that score above 850 high probability of passing. We know the material already just trust your knowledge.

Appreciate your feedback!
