Being competitive for egotistical reason is WRONG. Competitive to be competent is GOOD.
Often times the degree of experience in the field makes staff think they have the right to punitively judge other staff who acquire less experience. This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!. Those nurses who practice this behavior are a danger to the field. Unit policies and protocol changes frequently, so guidelines of practices often gets changes and upgraded. LPN and RN have different scope of practice. If you think this LPN have crossed the line, then go to your chain of command. Report the improper conduct so a appropriate disciplinary action is taken.
Adding and or Correcting someones charting is illegal and ground for disciplinary action.
I wonder if she is really desperate to make herself look like a hero. I would be careful of her because it doesn't sound like she has very good judgment. Lifting someone who weighs 250 lb by herself is dangerous for the patient and nurse. Also, she certainly should be charting her own observations, not changing yours.
I think you are within your rights to at least tell her to stop changing your charting and to not move patients that need assistance on her own.
How do you deal with a competitive person? DON'T COMPETE!
It takes two to carry on with a workplace competition. If you eliminate yourself from the competition, the nurse with the competitive personality will either have to compete with herself or find somebody else to aggravate.
Let her continue to lift heavy people without the proper assistance. It will catch up to her someday. Also, her nurses notes don't necessarily have to match yours. I wouldn't pay more attention to this nurse than what she's really worth.

what is the best way to deal with that? there is this nurse who is an lpn that tries all the time to compete with me for no reason at all, and i dont know why. if i say the client has foul smelling urine she would read my notes then re state what its my notes and add "cloudy" when it wasnt. also if something such as changing the foley is done on my shift she does it on her shift, but not to be nice. because id have to do something left over from her shift. she also does unsafe things like get a 260 lb quad client up out of bed and into the recliner with a hoyer with no assistance so now family expects me to do that also even though it states on facesheet "2 person assist" .
