Deaconess Question? How many Sessions?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Glad to see there are some successful Deaconess students here...I am sending off my application today. I am still waiting on my info packet, so I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are three full sessions (semesters) at Deaconess. The ON-LINE Catalog only lists a Spring & Fall Schedule. Do they offer the Nursing courses during the Summer also?

Thanks

Regarding my previous post, see DCN catalog page 25, bottom of the page.

Hi Mrs. Yost.

I think they have dropped this requirement. I'm not quite sure what the exact particulars are but I don't think the residency requirement is the same as it once was.

Hope all is well with you :)

According to the info the just sent me (2003-2004 catalog), the residency requirement is 28 credit hours of general education and nursing courses, which will be accomplished just with the nursing courses. Has anyone tried to take pharmacology anywhere else?

That's great that they have dropped the general education residency requirement. I hope that is the same for those of us in the program for awhile. I will be done this summer and besides Life Span IV, the only things I had left to do were 6 general ed credits (all required gen ed credits were transferred from previous degree).

Mona B, how is your semester going so far?

Mrs Yost, I talked to deaconess today and they will accept the intro to Chemistry I from ccconline. I went ahead and signed up for the class starting March 1.

talk to you soon

Mrs Yost,

I noticed the same requirement you referenced in the on-line catalog...that was one of first things I questioned when I talked to Erin last week. She verified that the policy has been changed and that all gen eds can be completed at another institution as long as it is accredited and approved by the administration for transfer. whew!

Do you happen to know the course number of your chem class with CCConline?

It is che 101.

Amy P,

I'm looking at taking the CHM 111. You might want to double check that 101 is acceptable.

Are you going to enroll for March 1?

they will take either class. here is the email erin sent me:

the class i have on my sheet for that school is che 111 and it is worth 5 credit hours. i have also just checked with the registrar, and we would also accept credit from the introduction to general chemistry course which is che 011 (i think. it is the first on the master schedule). either one of these classes is acceptable.

i'm going to take the intro class b/c i think it will be easier!!

Thanks for the info Amy. I just changed my chemistry course to the 101 rather than the 111. Hoping it will be easier. I'm starting on Monday. Did you enroll for this one?

Have you checked out http://www.weber.edu they offer a chem class that is especially suited for nursing students and they boast high pass rates. As a matter of fact, I emailed one of the instructors last year and he emailed me back so I was somewhat impressed with that. I wonder if chem 101 would transfer into a BSN? That would be my main concern.

Good Luck
