DCCC Nursing 2015

Published

Hey everyone

I'm going to be petitioning for DCCC's 2015 nursing program. I recently just finished my TEAS (80.6%) and still waiting from the state about my clearances. In the mean time, I was told to take the TEAS one more time to "lock myself in" the day program at the Marple campus. Still debating that, but at this point it really can't hurt to sit through one more testing session.

Anyway, has anyone petitioned up to this point? It might be a little early to hear back (supposedly December-ish), but it could happen. I just wanted to get a feel for some TEAS scores, maybe get a little feedback/advice from the other nursing students that just completed their first year, etc.

Thanks all, and good luck!

As far as I know it is okay to take them at the same time, and you have classes/labs 2 days a week, maybe 3 plus clinical... If you look at the schedule for the campus you applied to it will tell you when you will have class.. You will have to figure out when to fit it in..

personally I am taking 150 now and then 151 in the summer to just get it over with.. I didn't know if I would have been able to fit it in my schedule..

You can take them at same time but I do not recommend! I'm in nursing 111 right now and having A&p 1 and 2 done helps me to understand the lectures so much better !!

Thanks at Marple.

Hi guys! I am in the Marple program now. You do get to choose your section, but they will fill up so it is sort of like a first come/first serve, depending on when you are scheduled for your orientation, which is done randomly (those in the first orientation get the best chances of getting into the section they want the most). However, once you choose your section, it is nearly impossible to switch. You will stay in that same section for your entire time in the program, unless you basically sell your soul to the devil to switch. ;)

You will start the program at like the end of August, and clinicals will begin the first week in October. It seems very fast and the first day can be scary but you'll get through it and the faculty will make sure that you are prepared. Your first clinical day will be orientation at your clinical site and will be 4 hours long. Typically first semester clinicals are from 6:45-1 on Mondahs, but in the following semesters the times can vary greatly, you might have 2 6 hour days or 1 12 hour day, for example.

Please let me know if you guys have any questions and I will try to answer them! The classes are definitely difficult, but not at all unbearable and if you are willing to work for it and put in the time you will do well.

Anybody else have their college planning session March 9th at 12:30?

Any fellow section 02ers here? Can't wait to get started!

Hi Everyone

I am in the Chester County Night/weekend program. Is anyone in section 95 or 96?

thanks!

Hello jweicheng-

I am in section 95.

HI Mlb28!!

It is nice to meet you, I am in section 95 also. Were you at the Wednesday 5:30pm nursing meeting? I went to an earlier session.

Jweicheng,

It is nice to meet you as well. Yes, I went in the evening. I am confused on the schedules they gave because I already got acquainted with the schedule they attached to the 2015 packet. The new schedule doesn't list "open sim lab". I didn't call/email anyone because I will be going either way but do you know if all of the sim labs mandatory now?

thanks

Hi Mlb28,

The funny thing is I did exactly the same thing you did, I got acquainted with that schedule from the 2015 packet and thought that was what I would be signing up for as well.

In the earlier meeting, they mentioned something about having open sim lab hours at Delco, which will be posted at some point. I think the 2 sim labs listed on that new schedule they gave us are mandatory, which is different than the 1 sim lab listed from the packet.

Mlb28, I can give you my email address so we can contact each other that way, if you like.

Yes please send me your email. Then I can give you my phone number to text.

thanks
