DCCC Nursing 2015

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hey everyone

I'm going to be petitioning for DCCC's 2015 nursing program. I recently just finished my TEAS (80.6%) and still waiting from the state about my clearances. In the mean time, I was told to take the TEAS one more time to "lock myself in" the day program at the Marple campus. Still debating that, but at this point it really can't hurt to sit through one more testing session.

Anyway, has anyone petitioned up to this point? It might be a little early to hear back (supposedly December-ish), but it could happen. I just wanted to get a feel for some TEAS scores, maybe get a little feedback/advice from the other nursing students that just completed their first year, etc.

Thanks all, and good luck!

You should be fine with that score but take again- it can't hurt!! Good luck! Remember- it's your reading score that counts not overall! Pending all areas are passing too...

Hey Dani, thanks for the response. I scored an 89.4% on the reading, but I am going to retake the test to try and boost my score into the mid-80s.

Do you have any idea if what the cut off score usually is? Also, do you have any advice preparing for the first year?

thanks!

Oh you should be fine!! I think people with 75/80's got in this year.

My advise is to really pay attention in A&P and try to start understanding how everything interconnects- not just a definition but what does it do and how it works with other things. Application of material is huge.. Memorization isn't good. You have to know the concepts of things.

Time management as well.. Note cards are my BFF so I can study in chunks everyday wherever I'm at.

Good luck !!

Hey Dani,

on the nursing application for marple campus day program it says

"Seats will be awarded to those students with the highest TEAS scores ranking with the overall composite score first, then reading, then science, then math, then English language & usage"

Im not sure if the policy is different for Chester county, but just wanted to post this in case any one else was worried about scores, ranking, etc. Goodluck to everyone who applied!

:)

I petitioned for the Chester County night and weekend program for 2015. Just a waiting game now.. Hurry up December! From what I have heard most people get their letters mid December.

TEAS score was overall a 78%. Reading 90.5% Science 70.8% Math 80% English 70%

Took the test twice, and got exact same scores.. only thing that was different was my reading went up from 88% to 90.5%, and math went from 83% to 80%..

I am nervous about scores because I feel mine is kind of low and Chester County program only has 32 seats for both night and weekend and day program. Hopefully I did well enough to get in..

Good luck to anyone who petitioned!

Congrats on your score!

Ive read a lot of posts on the Dccc 2014 petition thread about people on the Chester county wait list getting in. I've heard people say that many drop out before the program starts and many are unable to meet the financial deadline as well. Nancy has also said that on avg about 1-7 people from the wait list normally get in the evening program. You may want to email her asking about this.

I hope that you get in, and if you dont - and make the waitlist, i hope that you are high up on that so that you have a better chance of getting in.

Goodluck to you! Try not to stress out too much about it ! (i know easier said than done - but still )

:D

Thanks! I originally had planned to petition for 2014 but financial aid had gotten messed up and I wouldn't have been able to attend so I waited. I was in contact with Nancy then, once we get letters if I am not admitted or am wait listed I will contact her then most likely. Mostly I just want her to get all of the petitions in order lol don't wanna bother her with unnecessary stuff til that is over with.. I still can't believe with what I have read that people go through all this to petition and then don't have stuff in order to secure their spot, I understand that things happen, but it seems that more than just a few people can't secure their spots.. Just seems crazy to me.

Oh well, just hope I get in. I haven't heard much about chester county evening program scores mostly just about marple day which has a lot more spots than chester county. So still nervous since I don't have any comparison scores.

Good thinking - waiting to email her :)

I agree! If I get in, I would be so grateful to get in ...I'd make sure I could attend! I guess life just happens some times and circumstances aren't right. But all the better if it gives someone on the wait list a chance to enter the program!

Stay hopeful! :D

Hey everyone!

Reading all your posts, your fairly high teas scores make me more stressed. I got a cumulative 68 with the exact same on my retake :( I'm hoping that my gpa is my saving grace! I don't know what I'll do if I don't make it in....being a stay at home momma is NOT for me lol

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!

Spana08 what was your reading score?

Are you applying for day or evening program?

My reading score was 78. I checked the option for day or evening, whichever is open I'll figure it out.
