Hey everyone! This is my first post and I hope to get some advice on applying to Daytona states nursing program in May for fall semester 2016. I currently have a 3.42 gpa and a 75% teas test score but I'm nervous that it won't be enough ugh what were some of your gpas and scores? I'm finishing my last pre reqs right now so I hope it doesn't drop much. Any advice on what easy online classes to take next semester to boost my gpa?
I'm sure with your GPA's and TEAS scores you guys are going to get in! To my surprise, I found out that was the easy part…. After you make it, get ready for a whole new way of studying, thinking, and applying yourself to passing the classes. It was a wake-up call for me… I just finished my first semester at DSC and boy, let me tell you, it definitely was a wake-up call! I felt good going in. 3.94 GPA, passed TEAS on first attempt, and had over 16 years experience as a paramedic/supervisor/instructor. I know medicine, how to study, and get A's. But I found out that nursing school is a whole different mindset. It's called critical thinking. I was use to studying, memorizing the answers, and getting 100's on my pre-req exams. Then in my first semester of nursing, I was just trying to pass, sadly some of my wonderful classmates did not. I realized the instructors , as well as the nursing exams were designed to teach us how to think it through, apply it in real life, and remember it in order to help our patients in the future, as well as passing the NCLEX. I finished my semester (after getting my head right lol,) to my surprise, on the Dean's list, although I had never been off the Presidents list during my entire time in pre-reqs. I am not trying to scare you, but give you a heads up of the exciting but challenging times ahead in nursing school. You will do just fine, just don't forget to breathe… You will be a nurse and others are depending on you to be there for them! Be proud of yourselves, as others are proud of your commitment to helping others!!!
Well that's encouraging. That happened in the LPN program...You have to have a 78 to pass so it's harder plus you don't get that 70 to pass, just an FYI. My friend just finished his first in the regular RN and my LPN friend finished her transition. So if I get in, I will be going into 3rd semester with you "the new old guy" lol. I am going on vacation for a week so please post when you get your letters! It's gonna drive me crazy not being able to check the mail lol

Just study the teas V study book! As long as you pass I believe you're safe there. They go by gpa, teas reading score is a tie breaker if gpa's tie. Math: know decimals, fractions, percents! :)
