Published

Lois Oglesby, 27 was one of the 9 victims shot and killed in the Dayton, Ohio shooting along with the shooter's own sister, Megan Betts. Lois was a nursing student, mother of two who had just returned from maternity leave to resume her job at a children's daycare center. She was very excited about her future nursing career and planned to work with children.

"She was a wonderful mother, a wonderful person," her cousin Derasha Merrett said. "I have cried so much, I can’t cry anymore.”

“We grew up as cousins,” Merrett said. “We grew up in the same church, on the same drill team. She works at my kids’ daycare. We all grew up in this little town. We’re all family. We’re all hurting behind this.”

Megan Betts, the 22-year-old sister of the gunman Connor Betts, was one of the first fatally shot.

But you're okay with the strict access to cars though right? you're okay that there are tests before you get to drive a car? Or we should just allow people to go in to a shop and buy a car and use it.

People who drink and drive are still allowed to own vehicles, it is not acceptable at all.

I guess we need to ban knives too? But of course this is silly logic.

People keep trying to find a reason why, and then try and find a solution. Unfortunately, there are people who are just plain mean and evil. Have no regard for human life. Then there are the ones with mental illness. I am finding those with mental illness had behavior and said things that should have been reported way before the incidents ever happened. I am a lot older than most that may post here. Before, if you got mad you may fight, but never would have ever thought to pull out a weapon. Not kill people you do not know because you are angry. But one thing that is missing today is a lack of respect for anyone. People shows signs of that clearly when they do not even respect themselves, they certainly have no respect for others. Finding a solution is needed, but until each household takes a look at itself and starts finding a solution to the meanness, violence, total disregard for human life there will never find one. The deaths of all those people should have never happened.

And cars. Look what happened with these people running down people in North Carolina, Melbourne Australia, and France 2 years ago?

The human brain is the true "assault" weapon.

No, the silly logic is equating a kitchen item with military style weapons.
