9 days after an interview and no offer...

Published

Last Monday, or nine days ago, I interviewed for what would be an awesome nursing position. The hours are great as they would be 8 hour day and evening shifts, meaning I wouldn't have to do nights or 12 hour shifts. The floor specialty is one that would coincide with my current position (not an RN). I have met all of the requirements for the job, as I have my Bachelor's degree and have already passed my boards. However, over a week has passed, and I haven't heard from them. I keep checking the website, and the job is still open, with my application still being in review. At the same time, I was told by the hiring manager I would hear from HR by Wednesday or Thursday of last week, and by the nursing placement coordinator "in about a week." Obviously, both deadlines have come and gone.

I keep looking at my phone, waiting for the call, but it remains silent. I keep holding out hope that maybe it really will happen, because I haven't officially heard "no" yet, either. I was hoping that I would be one of the lucky ones to land a job on my first interview, but the good news I am looking for seems to be refusing to come. I don't know...how long did you wait for your results and am I wasting my time holding onto a position that seems to want to be a no? I don't know what I'll do with myself or what direction I'll go in if it really is a no...

The hiring process for places often takes a while.

(For example, I applied to about 20 open positions back in May and just interviewed for one of them last Monday. They also still have not called me).

If I were you, just call the person you interviewed with, or HR if you don't have their direct number. Just explain your situation and they'll either give you an update or they won't. Not much else you can do at this point.

Good luck.

I recommend sending a thank you note as well if you haven't already. Good luck!
