I have been seeing this schedule offered with more and more travel jobs. Is it me or is it actually popping up more often than in the past. If so why?

My recruiter had a job for me to my childhood city. I really wanted to go but when she said rotating day/night I said oh no. She tried her best to get me to reconsider. I explained to her I hate night shift as it is because my body just cant do it and there's no way I would flip flop days and nights... I would be the next admit in the Psych Unit.:wacky: It was bad enough I put aside that it was 8 hour shifts when I'm so used to 3 12's. ...but the rotating shifts was a deal breaker.

I haven't noticed any increase. Bad luck I think. You could always do the interview. What the agency was told by HR could be quite different from the real needs of the manager.

IDK just got another call today from a different agency about a NICU rotating shifts. My recruiter didn't want to submit me for the job I really wanted. She said it would look bad on the Co. if during the interview they asked me if I was ok with rotating shifts and told them no.

It shouldn't make anyone look bad to say they don't want rotating shifts. It should make management look bad for ignoring the crushingly abundant evidence that rotating shouldn't be allowed.

I just did one. I died. Won't do it again. But, their regular staff was doing it too. All of their New Grads are doing it.

Big hospital. Magnet Hospital. One of the Top Hospitals. So I they are doing it you know it will be a trend. I have seen a few other assignments this way.

Plus, I had an offer for 12a to 12p on an ICU floor. I can't do that either. The manager told me it was day shift during the phone interview. When I received the contract and read it said those hours. Nice try.

When I worked as permanent staff at a hospital (two different units), travelers were used to plug holes if the schedule was already made. So whlie the manager wasn't out to see how many times you can flip from day to night in a schedule, she did what she had to with what she was given. So maybe hospitals are listing this just in case you have to rotate. The position I'm starting next week was listed as D/N rotation. During the interview the manager asked if I had a preference, I told her nights, and she was actually happy about it and now I have all night shifts (better than rotating for me). Of course that's less likely to happen for day shift, but you see my point!
