1. What did you WEAR to the nclex? (pls try to describe in details.. flipflops?jacket?skirt?combat boots?lol) my most comfortable jeans, flats, regular shirt, and a cardigan
2. What did you EAT before the nclex? oatmeal
3. What did you SNACK on during your nclex break? nothing, just had water and went out for some fresh air
4. What would you recommend SNACKING on during an nclex break to waken the brain, with DRINK pls hehe... probably water, a banana, apple, something light and nutritious... (i wish i had brought something like this to snack on btw)
5. How many minutes did you have your break? How long do you recommend we should take our breaks? i took a quick 10 minute break. went to the restroom, went out to get some fresh air, and then sat in the waiting area with water. just enough time to reset and continue
6. What were one of your favorite Bible verses/ inspirational quotes that you wrote on your mini white board? after i saw that i had reached question #76, i panicked and i kept putting myself down for it... i wrote, "you can do it!!" in big bold letters and circled it so i could keep the positive energy and remember that... yes i CAN do it
7. How many minutes did it take for you to finish? started at 11am, finished a little before 230 (i had 220-230 questions) so 3 1/2 hours...
8. Last words for those taking Nclex? (we need you guys.. hehe) thanks - think positive! that is the most important thing. you CAN do it. once you feel like your brain is jello and you are no longer able to focus, take a break and breathe. remind yourself that you CAN do it! if you don't know the answer to the question, dissect it. use ABC's, maslow's, eriksons, etc. if you don't know what the med in the question is (and trust me you won't know EVERY med), look at the answers and see if it can give you a hint... and most importantly, PRAY! pray to God to be with you during your testing day and to give you strength and courage:
God, You are my source of wisdom. Your spirit guides me, Your love enfolds me, and Your light inspires me. Please be with all of us on our testing day. Guide us with your strength, courage and glory. Let us enter those doors to the testing center with all of our burdens handed to you. We ask that you take away all our fears and anxieties. Help to guide us with the knowledge that you have given to us. In you all things are possible. Thank you Lord for all that we have and all we have accomplished. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Good luck to you!!

1. Green old navy dress with a white sweater and open toed shoes (it was June in the NYC area)
2. a tuna sandwich and a brownie.
3. Nothing.
4. Something easy to eat, not messy, and odorless - some kind of snack bar.
5. I didn't take a break.
6. The bible isn't my cup of tea, so none. For this sort of thing I'd go with Apollo, the god of plague & medicine and Athena, the goddess of wisdom. I don't think I wrote anything on the whiteboard.
7. 90 minutes.
8. Relax the evening before and get a good night's sleep. Over 80% of first time test takers pass, so the odds are in your favor.

... from a guys point of view.. you wanna dress to impress the person vue secretary... wear comfortable clothing, something warm the room is air conditioned to high hell.. relax. get sleep. take your breaks to clear your mind when they offer them. dont freak if you go over 85 qs that means your in the game... you will not be prepared so expect questions that are out of your league. eat a good solid breakfest. toast, eggs, keep your B/S up thru the day.. it will drop... after that congrats on you becoming a nurse. :-)

A banana, granola with almond milk and a glass of water.

Take a break if you feel like you are starting to miss questions. Don't miss question after question while progressively freaking out, USE THAT BREAK to calm down, sip water, pray...whatever, just stop answering questions.
Its wise to bring along a snack in case you are there for the duration. Better to have that umbrella if you need it.
The NCLEX is like having sex for the first time....people build it up in their heads WAY TOO MUCH beforehand.

1. What did you WEAR to the nclex? I wpre some of my favorite, most comfortable clothes. I wore shoes because I wasn't sure about the dress code in the building or how cold it would be in the room. Then I wore jeans, a v-neck tee shirt under a lightweight track jacket. I chose the jacked because I get cold easily and I wanted to allow for layers.
2. What did you EAT before the nclex? I didn't test until 2pm, but I ate cereal and milk for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. I made sure I stayed hydrated, but didn't drink a few hours before the test so I didn't have to worry about needing to go to the bathroom.
3. What did you SNACK on during your nclex break? Nothing. I didn't take a break.
4. What would you recommend SNACKING on during an nclex break to waken the brain, with DRINK pls hehe Only drink water, just to keep you hydrated and refreshed. Don't drink anything sugary or with caffeine. For a snack, choose something light and quick, like a granola bar, yogurt, or some trail mix.
5. How many minutes did you have your break? How long do you recommend we should take our breaks? I didn't take a break. You should take a break whenever you feel you need one. Don't worry about when the test asks if you want a break- you can take one at any time. If you're in a zone taking questions and feeling good, don't take a break. But if you find that you're distracted, having a hard time focusing, then it's a good time to take a break and regroup.
6. What were one of your favorite Bible verses/ inspirational quotes that you wrote on your mini white board? I didn't write any on my white board. But I definately said a prayer before the test! I had prayed while studying that I would study the right information. I prayed before the test that God would bring the correct information to mind. Is used the white board to double check my drug calculations and jot down key words to help me work out a question. Remember that you have to give your white board back to the proctor, and you can't erase anything.
7. How many minutes did it take for you to finish? I finished in under an hour, start to finish. I had 75 questions.
8. Last words for those taking Nclex? (we need you guys.. hehe) thanks Take your time. Read the question and all the answers first, before you choose. Be careful of questions that have words like "most" "least" "first" "best" etc. Make sure you know what the question is asking, because you can bet there will be an opposite in there. If you don't know the answer, try to eliminate as many as you can and make your best guess. Then forget about it! Don't spend any time wondering about previous questions because you can't go back. The day before the test, try to relax and do something fun. Leave for the test early so you don't have to worry about traffic or being late. If you've studied, you'll be fine. Best of luck!
