  1. After 3 painful days of waiting!! I am proud to say that I am officially a REGISTERED NURSE! Just checked the BRN website not too long ago and my name popped up with my license number! Thank you to this site and everyone who kept the positive energy around here! It is still so surreal to me and I cannot stop rejoicing and thanking God for this amazing blessing! :balloons::clpty: i wanted to share with you all what i studied since this website was very helpful for me... 1. preparing for NCLEX: once i received my ATT, i immediately went on pearson vue to schedule my NCLEX. i think that it's important to schedule it right away so that you have an end point, a goal date that you are working towards. 2. the next day after scheduling, i was getting down to business. i mainly studied KAPLAN online. i did about 50-100 questions/day doing the trainers, q bank, and focused reviews. 3. KNOW YOUR WEAKNESS. i can't say this enough. don't re-learn things you already know. know what your weakness is and do a focused review from there. read ALL the rationales (including the wrong ones) to reinforce material. if you still don't understand, take out your kaplan book and read from there. i know this is time consuming, but if you're only doing 50-100 questions a day it's possible. 4. have a study guide! here is mine that i printed out and read: https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8697&d=1310274877 i read over this about 3 times... it has a lot of basic things you need to know about the common diagnosis', and a lot of pneumonic to help you memorize as well. 5. on the day BEFORE your test... don't study! don't go back on kaplan and try to finish a last minute trainer, focused review, or q bank question. relax and do something nice for yourself. go out and watch a movie, get a pedicure, get some coffee, etc. if you MUST study, study for an hour tops! don't do questions, rather, go online and watch kaplan videos, search for pneumonics on eriksons developmental stages... anything, just don't do questions! reason being is that once you finish that trainer and score below a 50%, the anxiety will kick in... and we wouldn't want you to have a panic attack the day before your big exam now would we.... 6. last but not least, DON'T FRET. don't let your anxiety get the best of you. don't go crazy and do 200-300 questions a day. that's not how to study. the important thing is to take a deep breath and take it easy. the less anxiety you have over this test the more mentally prepared you will be to reinforce, take in new information, and overcome it. and like i said, don't re-learn things you already know! know your weakness and go from there. once you feel that your brain is mush from doing questions, take a break and be ready to do it again tomorrow. here is that study guide again in case you missed it! https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8697&d=1310274877 just a side note, 80% of NCLEX test takers pass their first time, so the odds are in your favor! much luck and success to the future NCLEX test takers! :nurse:
  2. hi ainie22, so sorry to hear about the news. i truly wish you better luck on your next attempt... i just got my results today and i passed NCLEX on my first attempt. i prepared for about 3 weeks, doing about 50-100 questions a day on kaplan. i did the trainers and some q bank. what really helped me from kaplan was the focused reviews. it's important to know what your weakness is and focus on that, hence FOCUSED review... because you really can't go back on each system and "re-learn" what you already know. i also read over this study guide whenever i felt like my brain was on overload: https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8697&d=1310274877. this is what i used when i couldn't bare to look at another question. i would also look at videos on kaplan as well. it's good to change it up here and there... my advice to you is not to fret. i did that and had to reschedule my test because i was having major anxiety. i now know better. don't go crazy like most and do 200-300 questions a day. that's not how to study. the important thing is to take a deep breath and take it easy. the less anxiety you have over this test the more mentally prepared you will be to reinforce and take in new information. and like i said, don't re-learn things you already know! know your weakness and go from there. once you feel that your brain is mush from doing questions, take a break and be ready to do it again tomorrow. if you MUST study, do something else other than questions, video's, a study guide, etc. hope this helps. much luck and success to you!!

  5. thanks for the info Pinky687! i'll be praying for good results! NurseHelix, looks like judgment day for us is tonight/tomorrow morning. i'll be praying for the both of us as well! :bowingpur
  6. 1. What did you WEAR to the nclex? (pls try to describe in details.. flipflops?jacket?skirt?combat boots?lol) my most comfortable jeans, flats, regular shirt, and a cardigan 2. What did you EAT before the nclex? oatmeal 3. What did you SNACK on during your nclex break? nothing, just had water and went out for some fresh air 4. What would you recommend SNACKING on during an nclex break to waken the brain, with DRINK pls hehe... probably water, a banana, apple, something light and nutritious... (i wish i had brought something like this to snack on btw) 5. How many minutes did you have your break? How long do you recommend we should take our breaks? i took a quick 10 minute break. went to the restroom, went out to get some fresh air, and then sat in the waiting area with water. just enough time to reset and continue 6. What were one of your favorite Bible verses/ inspirational quotes that you wrote on your mini white board? after i saw that i had reached question #76, i panicked and i kept putting myself down for it... i wrote, "you can do it!!" in big bold letters and circled it so i could keep the positive energy and remember that... yes i CAN do it 7. How many minutes did it take for you to finish? started at 11am, finished a little before 230 (i had 220-230 questions) so 3 1/2 hours... 8. Last words for those taking Nclex? (we need you guys.. hehe) thanks - think positive! that is the most important thing. you CAN do it. once you feel like your brain is jello and you are no longer able to focus, take a break and breathe. remind yourself that you CAN do it! if you don't know the answer to the question, dissect it. use ABC's, maslow's, eriksons, etc. if you don't know what the med in the question is (and trust me you won't know EVERY med), look at the answers and see if it can give you a hint... and most importantly, PRAY! pray to God to be with you during your testing day and to give you strength and courage: Good luck to you!!
  7. the BRN website was last updated on the 11th... try again tomorrow morning! i'm in the same boat you are in
  8. Where are you going to check your results? On the BRN license verification page right? Dot worry, my friend who took it on a Thursday got his results on Monday night Tuesday am... They (said) the site updates around 230-3am
  9. Seriously NurseHelix... Maybe tonight or tomorrow am...
  10. Are you in California, NurseHelix? I swear, this wait is forever long! My guess is that it will update Monday night/Tuesday am. I've noticed that the website tends to update around 2-3am. I think they update on Saturdays because the BRN says that it was last updated 12/9 (yesterday).... I probably sound like a mad man but as we all know the anticipation for the results is the worst!!!
  11. RVT/RN, congratulations to you!! I took mine on 12/8 and I'm still waiting for results although I got the same pop up as you. I'm just wondering, when you checked the BRN for your name, did it say it was updated on 12/10? I keep checking and the last time it says it was updated was 12/9. Thanks in advance
  12. From what I've read, and there has been a lot of discussion about this on the website, is that the "good pop-up" is either the one that says the candidate has recently passed OR our records indicate.... So on. Just as long as you do not get the credit card page, then this is (supposedly) the "good pop up". I took my board on December 8 (last Thursday) and got the good pop up... Will update as soon as results are posted
  13. that is amazing news! congratulations to you!!!! what a wonderful christmas present did you say that you took your NCLEX on wednesday and got the results today? what state are you from? i took my NCLEX on thursday and have yet to see my name on the board... although i tried the PVT and got the "good popup", i still don't want to rely on it until i see my name on the BRN. i am from california btw.
  14. don't be too hard on yourself. peds is a difficult subject for most. if you have the chance, go out and buy the pediatric success book by richardson. there are a lot of Q&A and rationales to address them that can help you with your test taking and overall pediatric content. hope this helps and good luck to you! believe in yourself and you can do it!
  15. cgwrn, you're lucky that your board participates in quick results and that you only had to wait 2-3 days. unfortunately, california doesn't do the same, which leaves us to hitting the refresh button on the BRN website every 5 seconds on another note, i've been checking the BRN website like a mad man! even though people have been reassuring me that i've passed (from the good pop up PVT) i still don't want to believe it until i actually see my name posted on the BRN. it updated last night (december 9th) and i saw a few names were added but mine wasn't, which of course added to my anxiety. have any of you in california taken your NCLEX on a thursday? and if so, when did you finally get your results via mail or see your name on the BRN? this wait is so frustrating...
