Cypress college RN program

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!

Hi our med surge also came in 2 volumes or 1 and from what the students who got the 2 volume set they would have rather had the single version. The reason is because when a chapter your reading or using references another chapter it ends up in the volume you didn't bring. I have the single you never bring it to school you only use it at home or in study lab.

Thanks Gizelle22! So which textbooks are we required to bring in school? Also, what can you say about ebooks?

You are not required to bring any books to school. You should always have your power points printed or on your laptop ready for notes. I don't like ebooks but that's just personal preference. I'd rather be able to physically flip through the pages. That said for the 1st couple of days I brought my fundamentals book because I thought we had to but nope just super heavy lol. It's your choice bring or not but not required. So how's it going getting excited?

Thank goodness we don't have to bring any book! I just got the 2 volume med-surg, and I feel like just those two will break my back. LOL. I'm super excited!!! Still shopping for books and stethoscope...

Get a label for your stethoscope we set them down and people love to steal those I hear it never happened to me but labels are cheap. Books I posted before you only need fundamentals med surg pharmacology and my personal favorite my nursing school bible The Saunders NCLEX review I have the 5th edition. I didn't have it my 1st semester I wish I had. I am so excited for you and your class can't wait to get to know you better.

I can't thank you enough for supporting us even before the school starts. You are an angel!!! I can't decide whether to get a littmann or not. I heard that those stethoscopes "grow legs." For the books, we highly need Nursing Diagnosis by Ackley too, right? I'll add the Saunders on my list. :)

Student_17 and for those who still need to buy uniforms, I found a good website to buy our uniforms. I ordered 3 sets and a lab coat for a total of $95 (S/H is free)! I will get the items on Monday. Will let you know if it's good or not (hopefully good!)

I just got accepted(Super excited:woot:) and was wondering where do we sign up for the NSNA membership. Also I need to take the CPR class and was wondering when that was offered through NSNA.

jo12 so happy for you! Welcome to the family. NSNA is online just google it and sign up it will automatically put you into the Cypress chapter. You can then sign up for Heart to Heart CPR which is on January 31st same day as family night. I will get the number for you and post it. Congrats again can't wait to meet you

Congratulations jo12!!! You can sign up for nsna at www.nsna.org. I got an email from [email protected] about the cpr class. I think you have to email them and let them know. It is on january 31st.
