Cypress College ADN Spring 2022

Published

Hello I made this forum because I did not see one for Cypress ADN program for Spring 2022. Just in case anyone has questions or answers to help out any future nurses. I have already applied for Cypress so now it is just the waiting game for me. I did also add a forum for El Camino College and LA City College just in case you need any help with those applications.

I understand that it takes time, but Cypress is especially pushing it. I mean they're leaving us with a little over a month to figure everything out? so bizarre ?

Very true.

I think they accept for both Spring and fall semester and then people go on the waitlist after the initial acceptance, that was my understanding at least

It seems they choose a new group per semester according to the Health Science Handout pdf.

There are 2 lists: Rank Order and Chronological.

Rank is points, everyone is sorted for that cycle based on it. They choose 75% of the semester cohort from there.

Chronological is basically "time in." As long as you keep you applying consecutively every application cycle (used to be twice a year, now it is just the Septemeber window) your spot is updated and saved. 25% of the cohort is chosen from here.

Basically, you can get in if you are part of the cutoff for that cycle, or you can get in if you are one of the longest running applicants with a high point count even if you didn't make the 'cutoff.'

I don’t think I’ll get in, but they shouldn’t take this long to let people know. Where else are you guys applying to/applied to?

Hey all! I’m still waiting as well. Hopefully they tell us today!

Same here. I feel like they probably sent to those accepted already. Kinda over this nursing in general with the whole complicated process and limitations..

I feel you on that...
I applied to three other colleges with maxed out points besides work experience. I cant just go get a job in the medical field?! I totally wish I had that luxury.
Anyways, I got listed as an alternate for one school and rejected from the other two.
Still nothing from Cypress

I haven’t heard of anyone who has heard back yet so I hope not…

But it is ridiculous how hard it is to get into these schools!

I've applied 3 times (Spring 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 2022) and applied to 4 ADN programs (Cypress, Golden West, Saddleback, and Santa Ana) and 2 BSN programs (CSUF and CSULB) nearly every cycle.

When I applied for Spring 2022, I had
Saddleback: 75/100
GWC: 82/100
Cypress: 26/30

I just got accepted to GWC for the Spring 2022. It has been a long road for me - I got a C in Anatomy and I didn't have any medical work experience or certs until this Summer - but I made it. I doubt I'll even get on the Alt list for Cypress, let alone in. If I do, I'll quickly let Cypress know that I'm declining so it moves others up the list.

If this is something you really want to do I would definitely reach out to the counselors and see if they can offer you any good strategies to boost your points based on what you have and haven't done yet and what their program prioritizes. That said, have an honest assessment of your goals and where you are before doubling down. I'm hopeful that more slots will open up due to reforms and legislation currently being discussed. But I also know not everyone's circumstance allows them to apply and wait for another cycle. I hope you all get in. Good luck and hang in there!

@Kenji12345 Wow, congratulations on getting into GWC! I would love to attend their nursing program but I couldn’t apply for Spring 2022 due to having science classes IP. This is my first round applying to nursing schools. I got into Rio Hondo & RCC, I’ll be attending RCC so if I get into Cypress I’ll be giving up my spot as well. Good luck to everyone and don’t give up on your dreams! ?

Thank you and congrats as well!!? Riverside City is no joke either. I think they have over a 90% NCLEX pass rate for over a 100 students, so they are definitely doing something right! Again, congrats and good luck!
