Curry ACCEL BSN program - Jan. 2014 start

Hello, everybody!

Today was the deadline to apply to Curry's Accelerated BSN program (Jan. 2014 start).

I've applied, and now all is left to do is chew on the finger nails and wait for the first week of May to roll around.

Is there anybody else here in the same boat? Check in and say hello!

I have no clue just yet what nursing venue I might like. That's what partly excites me: there's a virtual smorgasbord of different opportunities. My ultimate goal is to get a MSN. I'm toying with the idea of becoming a CRNA, but I would want to see first how I do in an ICU setting (at least a year's worth of experience in ICU is a prerequisite for CRNA schools).

But I guess I need to wait and see first what May 1st will bring, huh?

I like my current job, and I liked enough my other jobs in marketing. It's just when I think about doing this for the rest of my life, I want to jab a sharp object into my eye socket. I really would like to do something meaningful with my life, and I can't think of anything more rewarding than helping people get better.

BTW, I'm finishing reading this book: "Intensive Care: The Story of a Nurse" by Echo Heron (Intensive Care: The Story of a Nurse: Echo Heron: 9780804102513: Amazon.com: Books ).

It's a pretty good story that gives you a better understanding of other people's experiences in nursing. It's a paperback, and when I'm done with it next week, I don't want it to just sit in my bookshelf.

I'm from a journalism background. It sounds like you guys have competitive backgrounds. I am nervous about my undergrad gpa, but oh well. Two more weeks of waiting!

I bet that experience in journalism helped you write a great essay, though! :up: And there's a lot of weight being placed on essays, from what I've heard in the info session.

Last year, the first letters were received as early as May 2nd and 3rd. So, yeah, I think we're looking at about 2.5 (!!) more weeks of waiting.

Julia, congratulations on making this year's cohort! How do you like it so far? I'm keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed for the next 2 weeks :) I hope to hear something by Saturday, May 4. So, the official 2-week countdown will start in a few days.

I'm from the town just west of Boston -- called Newton. I'm originally from Colorado but came here by way of NYC (and spent 2 yrs in San Fran). I like Boston so far. It reminds me of an East Coast version of SF in many ways.

I'm waiting to hear back as well! So nervous! I keep trying to think positively but I have had my fair share of rejection letters this past year. With the overwhelming amount of applicants now a days, it seems like even those qualified are not getting into programs because of the limited spaces : ( I hope we are all waiting on good news, because Curry seems like a great program!
