For those of you who have correct info, can you please post what you know each branch is currently offering (as of 08/10) as far as sign on bonuses/loan repayment/commitment?

For example I believe the following is currently true (if not please correct me),

Air Force

4 year commitment: $30k Bonus

6 year commitment: $25k Bonus + $40k Loan Repayment

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

As far as I know, this is the current Army bonus info (these were the four choices on the form I signed last week, USAREC Form 1205, Rev 1 Sep 2009):

1. $20,000 sign on bonus for 3 years of Active Duty Service

2. $30,000 sign on bonus for 4 years of Active Duty Service

3. $120,000 in educational loan repayment ($40,000/yr x 3 years) for 3 years of Active

Duty Service.

4. $120,000 in educational loan repayment with a $10,000 sign on bonus for 6 years of Active Duty Service.

as always.. confirm your loans are eligible.. understand payment schedule and you are responsible for interest... and also account for fed taxes, so cut about 28% of the repayment out...

how can I confirm the loans are eligible?

Any airforce reserve sign on bonuses? I feel ashamed to ask my recruiter, this is not a motivating factor for me. I already have a Masters Degree and have no loans, but I would not mind additional money in this economy.

Don't be ashmed to ask your recruiter about bonuses. It's not coming out of his pay. You worked hard for your education, you should be compesated.

While money may not be the final motivating factor, it is a factor. Get everything in writing before you sign.

Good Luck!

Doesn't the new fiscal year start in October for all the branches? The online "instant chat" air force recruiter told me the bonuses will not be set in stone for 2011 until October.

You are right! I thought about what you said and I will wait to ask once I get past the board. I do not want any delay or her not to give it her all for me.

My recruiter is not very forthcoming with info. I get more information from this site and my husband (a marine) then her. I would have not even known what is required for the over 40 physical if it were not for this site.

She returns phone calls promptly, but it is usually a one word answer to a question rather than explanation. From the posts here it seems a recruiter can affect your outcomes. I think I can wait until the boards and then ask.

I will remember your words of advice to get it in writing.

Thank yoy.

Do not wait til you are past the board, as any bonuses, loan repayment, special pay etc will need to be guaranteed in writing and attached as annexes to your contractual documents. Do it now! the other posters are right it is not your recruiters $

Thank you. Once I go to MEPS I will speak with her. I am very early in the process, I have not done my interview, background check or completed documents. I have only sent resume, essay and transcripts to go to SG to be granted permission to go forward. I am now going through MEPS at the end of the month.

I appreciate the advice, recruiter is not forthcoming. Seems does not want to invest to much time until I get a little further in process. I am older, have hypothyroidism and a vasal vagal syncope episode. I need to get through MEPS without a doubt.
