CT-CCNP 2017

Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

I am also very anxious about starting NCC. I called two professors (C.Y. and K.H.) and while I know the first one went away on vacation, neither have returned my calls.

I am wondering if we need 12 or 24 months of PrepU software for Brunner & Suddarth's Med/Surg and Taylor Fundamentals. Its a significant price difference.

Makes me wonder if we have to keep buying different books and access codes throughout the program!

yes. there are books for each semester but not as many as the ones for first semesters. two to three books for second semester. we will use the dosage book, the pocket guides and med surg book for the four semesters

CCC students, does anyone know if our fundamentals book came with prepU?

the funndamentals book come with the prepU and coursepoint pack. The required books list shows two fundamental books but just buy the one with coursepoint, it has the book, the prepU and the online courepoint as well. I bought my at the ccc bookstore at a discount. just paid 166 instead of 180.

Thank you for the info! I bought mine from the CCC bookstore as well and noticed that there were two listed, so I wasn't sure which one we actually received.

Should have just looked at my book! The PrepU is right there in the shrinkwrap.

Hey guys.

Where are you buying your scrubs from? I looked at Amazon but can't seem to find the style numbers required. Does Walmart sell them? I know the handbook listed a few places but I'm trying to find the best deals.

For anyone attending Gateway - Aside from the Schedule for Exams and the reading assignments/schedule for the first two weeks...Did we receive anything in our email in regards to a full syllabus/schedule? I have only received those two documents and was thinking there would be a little more detailed schedule and/or syllabus. Maybe they'll give it to us on the first day of lecture but I have no clue at this point. Anyone attending Gateway have any idea?

I use Prime, so I had everything in my cart on Amazon. I didn't want to purchase online though, due to conflicting reviews, I was unsure of the fit/cut/styles. I was expecially curious about the various pant styles, I went in to the bookstore to try them on over my clothes. I ended up actually buying mine at the bookstore because I was able to use financial aid funds, and each piece was only $2-4 more than amazon.

Good luck to all! I graduated from Gateway a year ago, I moved down South for a new grad residency program. I love my job! I still keep in touch with some professors and clinical instructors; as a whole they are very supportive. If anyone has questions feel free to PM me.

For anyone attending CCC...

What comes in the nursing kit? I went to the bookstore and the sales associate said he thought it had a stethoscope and things we would need at clinical. It cost over $100 and he couldn't tell me what was in it. Has anyone bought it?

Also, I bought my scrubs from scrub warehouse with the embroidery and was told at capital it was the wrong patch (it's too small and it says ctcc nursing program instead of capital community) so don't bother getting it there!

@Akiinabe, the nursing kit does not have a stethescope in it. It only has the things we will need for lab. IV tubing, dressings, Foley catheter kits, saline, gloves, masks, etc. If you pm me, I'm happy to send you pictures!

I ended up going to the uniform store the handbook listed. Wasn't too bad, I don't really care for how they fit on me, but I got them. Next time I'll buy them online. I pretty much have everything except for shoes. They're uncomfortably warm, hope lab/clinical has good AC haha.

Maybe I'll see you in school!
