Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

Just found out from my doc that my titer results are in and everything looks good. I'll be picking those up tomorrow after orientation. Everything else has been accepted by Castle Branch. I got bad news from my MD though, newly diagnosed with diabetes.. because I needed another stressor in my life!

does anyone know when when we have to complete the drug screening? I know we have to be registered for it by June 1st but don't know when we have to have it completed by...my advisor said they would let us know when we need to go take it but haven't heard anything yet. Anyone know anything about this??

i have attempted to reply to this several times, no idea whats going on..

just wanted to add my two cents..i think its better that you found out you are diabetic now so that you have the summer to get used to any new meds and get your sugar under control!

Got a doctor appointment this Thursday to get all my titers and stuff taken so I can start working on the Castle Branch stuff. For NCC it's due by July 1 I do believe. Have my BLS class Tuesday PM.

I know this is off topic but is there anything else I can do to try to get around the appeal thing at school? I guess the director of financial aid is as high as I can go. I'm just amazed I couldn't even get a federal loan and now I'm being forced to either pay out of pocket or take out a private student loan.

I started finger sticks (no insulin thankfully!) and the highest was 150 and the lowest 108. Not too wildly out of control but I've already started cutting way back on carbs. Let me tell you though.. metformin side effects are not fun. For me, it mimicked the feeling of low blood sugar. You're right, thankfully I've got the summer for my body to get used to it!

NVCC by June 1st

There's always someone above that person maybe try the dean or say NVCC said there is an appeal form I can apply for if I got into an allied health program. The dean maybe? I would fight it!

@nursetoBeeCT I know we have to register for it by June 1st but im referring to the deadline that the actual drug screen needs to be completed by. I'm not sure if they did tell you at NVCC that it does need to be registered for AND completed by June 1st but at gateway I asked my advisor that question and he said they would give us a sheet of paper after we registered by June 1st and then we had 3 days to take it from that date. He was very unspecific about the actual date we would be requested to take it saying "we aren't sure yet - could be sometime in May could be sometime in June".

Yeah we are doing everything through castlebranch as well but I even went ahead and called CT League of Nursing and asked if it needed to be completed by June 1st and she said no you just have to register for it by June 1st and then they will let you know when...so confusing!! I appreciate your responses tho I guess I'll have to go ahead and call my advisor on Tuesday.
