Hello, I am wondering if anyone has attended or applied to CSUSM FNP program? Or any other FNP programs in San Diego? I applied and am waiting to hear back. I would appreciate any feedback from any fellow FNP students or recent graduates about your experiences. Thank you!

After reaching out to one of the academic advisers earlier this week, I learned that decisions should be coming out for the PMH program this week or next. Has anyone heard otherwise? Fingers crossed! I applied in February as well and still haven’t heard back. I was told they started reviewing my application sometime in May and that it could take up to 8 weeks to hear back. Hope we hear back soon!
Hello fellow nurses...
I need an advise. I have been accepted in the PMHNP at National Univ and CSUSM.
The cost is the same, and both provide preceptorship.
For CSUSM, the program is 3 years and I have to drive 50 miles from chula vista.
For Nationa Univ is only 18 months program, and of course no need to drive.
I don't know what to do ?
Hi Hanshinn88- about 7 or so years ago I did my pre-reqs at NU in Chula Vista and had a great experience. If I didn't have children, I personally would choose the shorter program that was closer to where I lived. They both seem like great programs. Hope this helps!
Hi Nurselife17- thanks for updating us on the virtual classes. I hadn't heard anything about that yet. I wonder how it will all work out!
Hi ICUnurse 4- I reached out to my advisor because I was curious how the fall semester would be set up. This is what she replied “Since you are just starting the program, you have all lectures which will be virtual. No need to come to campus. There will be certain days and times you will still attend class which will be Tuesdays.”
Hi Hanshinn 88- I think it all depends on your life situation. I choose a part time (3 year) program because I need to work full time. Also depends if you are in a hurry to graduate or if you are will to take your time.

Hello! I know this was from almost a year ago, but I am going to be in cohort 14 and was wondering if you would share how you liked the program so far??
Hey Ellme,
So far it has been good. All lectures have been online due to covid but we plan to move to in-person in the fall. This has been fine because the first two semesters aren't really that "clinical". However, pathophysiology was a challenge for me over zoom. I don't feel like I learned as much as I would have in person.
One thing I didn't know about CSUSM--they are a "writing" school, so every course requires you to write a certain about of pages. The first semester, there was a lot of busy work/papers. Hardly any exams. The second semester has been much better!
Let me know if you have any other questions.
