CSUSM FNP 2020

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has attended or applied to CSUSM FNP program? Or any other FNP programs in San Diego? I applied and am waiting to hear back. I would appreciate any feedback from any fellow FNP students or recent graduates about your experiences. Thank you!

Sorry for the delay!! My cohort is about to enter the 3rd year. Overall, I still recommend CSUSM. Now that courses are back in person, it is much better. In the first year, there is a lot of writing, busy work, etc. It gets better after that. There is a thesis/EBP project due at the end of the program that you have to defend. It seems daunting at first, but you end up getting a lot of it completed by the end of the first year. My cohort had issues finding clinical last semester because the woman in charge switched roles so someone new had to fill in. It seems like it all got sorted out eventually. 

One big highlight is the skills lab we had in the second year. We had real "patients" come in so we could practice doing gynecological exams on males and females. We also got to practice a lot of hands-on skills like shave biopsies, suturing, I&Ds, punch biopsies, IUD insertions, etc.

@RN2be2018 hi did you finish your pmhnp program at CSUSM? I’m looking into the program now for post master. Can you please share how you liked the program and if it’s hybrid, virtual, or in person
