  1. Hi KarenL131, Sorry for the delay!! My cohort is about to enter the 3rd year. Overall, I still recommend CSUSM. Now that courses are back in person, it is much better. In the first year, there is a lot of writing, busy work, etc. It gets better after that. There is a thesis/EBP project due at the end of the program that you have to defend. It seems daunting at first, but you end up getting a lot of it completed by the end of the first year. My cohort had issues finding clinical last semester because the woman in charge switched roles so someone new had to fill in. It seems like it all got sorted out eventually. One big highlight is the skills lab we had in the second year. We had real "patients" come in so we could practice doing gynecological exams on males and females. We also got to practice a lot of hands-on skills like shave biopsies, suturing, I&Ds, punch biopsies, IUD insertions, etc. Let me know if you have any others questions!
  2. Hey Ellme, So far it has been good. All lectures have been online due to covid but we plan to move to in-person in the fall. This has been fine because the first two semesters aren't really that "clinical". However, pathophysiology was a challenge for me over zoom. I don't feel like I learned as much as I would have in person. One thing I didn't know about CSUSM--they are a "writing" school, so every course requires you to write a certain about of pages. The first semester, there was a lot of busy work/papers. Hardly any exams. The second semester has been much better! Let me know if you have any other questions.
  3. Hi Hanshinn88- about 7 or so years ago I did my pre-reqs at NU in Chula Vista and had a great experience. If I didn't have children, I personally would choose the shorter program that was closer to where I lived. They both seem like great programs. Hope this helps! Hi Nurselife17- thanks for updating us on the virtual classes. I hadn't heard anything about that yet. I wonder how it will all work out!
  4. Sweet! I'm at Scripps Encinitas, how about you?
  5. Hey! I believe it was about 4 months after applying that I got my acceptance. It seems like COVID has definitely changed the timeline on their normal application/decision cycle! Has anyone heard if this first semester will be online? Anyone local RNs here in SD? I work at Scripps
  6. I know a few other people who've been admitted to the FNP program and it seems like everyone has been finding out on a rolling basis. I am not sure why they keep extending their deadline but imagine it has to do with the pandemic. Good luck!
  7. CONGRATS to you too!! Very excited to start ? Do you know anyone else that has applied/accepted?
  8. That's awesome, I got my acceptance as well and plan to attend. Are you going to accept the offer? I've heard great things. One of the NPs at my hospital teaches there and speaks highly of it.
  9. Hey Aaron, did you end up attending NU? I am trying to find a good FNP program in SD and would love any input you have! Thanks ?
  10. Cool! I know of some people who already found out they got accepted in March. I am a little confused because this is also the second time they have pushed the deadline back. Have you applied to any other programs or know of any in SD?
  11. That's great to hear! How was the work load throughout the program? Thank you for getting back to me!
  12. Hello, I am wondering if anyone has attended or applied to CSUSM FNP program? Or any other FNP programs in San Diego? I applied and am waiting to hear back. I would appreciate any feedback from any fellow FNP students or recent graduates about your experiences. Thank you!
  13. Hello, I am wondering if you ended up gong to CSUSM for the FNP program? If so, how was your experience? I applied to the fall 2020 cohort and am waiting to hear back. Thanks!
