CSUSM ABSN Summer 2022

Published

I have not yet seen a thread started for the Summer 2022 cohort at CSUSM in Temecula. It’s been nice to see previous groups chat and support each other! My application was fully completed last week.

@Duncanda @Sethman -I also had an international transcript and it took months for it to get accepted properly! On the academic calendar, it looks like Summer semester starts June 6th! Also thought everyone might like to know, of the first three courses we have to take (ANTH 301, BIOL 323, PHIL 345) my points eval indicates that I have previous coursework that satisfies two of the courses. It showed "satisfied" on my points evaluation under those sections, so if you have taken a Nutrition course, a holistic health course (or other upper level anth course), you may be able to get credit for them!

@Michael99 I have nutrition so they marked that as met for me, but not the other two. I was going to look into knocking one or both out before we start if I can.

I took a holistic health course (for the anth req) and it was a breeze... but I can't find anywhere to take Bioethics other than CSUSM and the waitlist is 40+ people LOL aka not happening

Hello! I also recieved an acceptance letter this morning. However, since I apparently completed the coursework for the first semester they are having me start classes in the Fall.

My statistics are as such:

Pre-Nursing Core GPA: 3.57

Last 60 GPA: 3.68

TEAS - 90.7

Total - 36 Points

I initially applied last year for the Fall 2021 cohort and I'm happy to hear I finally made the cut. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Hi!

I applied for Summer 2022 on December 6th, 2021. I was wondering how you guys calculated your GPA for the last 60 coursework? I have taken coursework from multiple schools after my bachelor's so I was wondering if I count them from all over or just from my previous bachelor's degree. I additionally haven't received a point evaluation (I got a submission confirmation on Jan 2nd so I'm assuming that is when it was accepted?)

If anyone has any tips for calculating the last 60 GPA and also when they think I'd receive my points eval that would be helpful! Congrats to those already offered admission!

- also, were your acceptance letters sent by mail or email?

@Rmag Congrats! Looking forward to meeting you too! Can I ask, where did you take the Bioethics/Medical Ethics course?

@heatherb23 it is your last 60 no matter where you took them. I have a Masters and this is the only school that used my grades from that degree, most just do undergrad. So, literally last 60 of everything. There are some online calculators that can give you a rough idea of where you are!

Hi @heatherb23 - acceptance was through email. When I calculated my last 60, it was the most recent 60 units in total. If you go back as far as your bachelor's degree, then take the most recent semesters and use the highest graded courses if you are calculating the final units and have more units than needed to complete the final 60. I had this exact scenario, and I had 54 units total in my most recent coursework plus the two semesters of final year of bachelors. CSUSM used 6 units from the previous semester (the highest grade) to calculate my last 60 GPA, even though I took a total of 12 units that semester. Does that make sense?

Healthcare Issues and Ethics was part of my coursework for my Bachelors in Health Science at CSUCI. Same with the Anthro and Bio class, weirdly enough.

I had fun with them since they offered interesting perspectives on the medical field.

For everyone who has been accepted already what was your point total?

Hello! I applied to the Summer Cohort at CSUSM, but still haven't even received a points total yet. My Fall grades took ages to finally post, so I didn't receive a confirmation for my completed application until Jan. 1st. I know it is past the "priority deadline," but it still seems to be acceptable? Just wondering if anyone else happens to be in a similar boat?

I'd email Extended Learning just to be sure. They're pretty prompt with their responses. But if your application is marked as completed then you should be fine as they have all your materials.

Same thing happened to me: I emailed them that I hadn't gotten my point evaluation and they gave it to me a day or two later.
