I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSUSB Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions about application deadlines, letters of recommendation, points, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!
Thanks! :) I love CSULB's campus and I know their nursing program is really great, but it's also the furthest campus of all the one's I applied to, so I have to take that into consideration. CSUSB has a nice program, but I don't think their nursing program is quite as good; at least their NCLEX pass rates aren't. I also won't know if I'm accepted there til July. CSULA has an ugly campus but a great nursing program, though I'll probably end up waitlisted if I'm even accepted to that one. I don't know, I think I may have to make a pro con list soon
What about you? I know you applied to at least CSULA too cuz you made the fall 2016 forum and all
. Do you have a first choice school?
I didn't apply to LB cuz I still have micro in progress. CSUSB is the closest to me, and I like their new uniforms (lol) and the campus. However, I feel like I have a better chance getting a job in LA if I go to CSULA. The nursing school has a good reputation. I'm a little scared about the conversion because I don't know how it's going to affect the program. So basically I'm torn between SB and LA!! If I had to say which one was my first choice, I'm leaning toward LA. But they both have pros and cons. LA is a little far from me. I live in Upland. Basically I just hope I get in somewhere!! Haha Even if I get into LA, I prob want to keep my options open with SB just in case. I keep going in circles! Aaaah.
I think LB is a lot more competitive than LA, so you should feel so proud that you got in there! Are your points less with LA because you don't have volunteer hours? I can't imagine that you would get into LB and not LA!! :)
Most of the girls on the LA and SB thread seem super nice. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys!!
Yeah, I don't have volunteer hours and also I was dumb and took my first TEAS attempt too soon to LA's deadline so I didn't have a chance to take my second attempt until after LA's deadline. I did WAY better on my second attempt than I did on my first. So LA got my first attempt TEAS and LB and SB got my second attempt TEAS. It's amazing how big of a difference that test can really make.
Yeah, it sucks that with LB you really have to have all your pre-reqs done to have a chance of getting in. Micro was the last class I had to take and I took it fall, so now I'm just stuck waiting and working to save up some money. I think you'll have no trouble getting into either LA or SB though. You have 25 points for LA right? That's a pretty much guarantee that you'll get in! I understand the anxiety though, I've been up to my ears in anxiety for the past month. Waiting is just the worst! I live south of you in Chino, so I get the whole long distance thing. I've told people around here that I plan to go to LB and commute (cuz rent prices for even just a room there are crazy) and they just look at me like I'm crazy and wish me "good luck" lol. That's the biggest reason I want to keep my options open. If LB were closer it would be without a doubt my top pick school, I mean it still is really, but I just have to decide if the commute is worth it.
Well, at least we should hear from LA any day now! Maybe we'll even hear from them today!

Yeah, I have 25 points with LA. Man that stinks about your TEAS score for LA. I only took the TEAS once, and I could've done better. So I probably should've retaken them too! I believe that quite a few top scores are giving up their spots for other programs, so I think we both have a good chance for LA. LB is super far
I really hope we hear from LA today. If not today, I have a strong feeling it will be Monday! :)
Hey guys, aside from the nursing program, I understand that we have to attend a SOAR registration before we can register or become fully admitted. However, I'm kind of confused because it says that we have to have our final transcripts in by July 1st before we attend a SOAR, but all of the SOAR dates are in May or June. Anyone have an idea to what we are supposed to do? Haha

Thats so weird. That doesn't even make sense. I was just thinking that I need to look into the orientation. I will let you know if I find anything out. :)
