CSUSB BSN Fall 2020

Published

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create this forum so we could share stats, ask/answer questions, and talk about the admissions process. When I went to the past informational meeting they said the following stats were for the past year admittance:

  1. Average overall GPA: 3.7
  2. Average Pre-Req GPA: 3.53
  3. Average Overall TEAS: 85.5%
  4. 300 qualify for application review and 45-50 are accepted

My stats are

  1. Overall GPA: 3.843
  2. Pre-Req GPA: 3.861 (assuming I end Bio 223 with an A which is what I have right now)
  3. TEAS: 87.3%
  4. Bilingual
  5. County Resident

Hi everyone!

I'm a CSUSB pre-nursing student. I heard some insider news (a friend who attends staff meetings and such) about the nursing department. They are currently a month behind on schedule than they usually are with these things so we should expect the acceptance letter to be emailed to us right around the "June 15" date they gave us.

Also, there are less applicants this year than usual. Not just the nursing department but most of the other majors too. I don't know the number or estimation. But knowing it's less than usual, that means we have a higher chance.. right? :)

The anticipation gets me on the edge! I'm scared but hopeful! Good luck to us all :)

I thought the same too since the app deadline was extended to May 1st. Odds will be better if indeed the amount of apps are lower. What’s your stats going into this Fall 2020 app period?

Do you know how much preference veterans get? I’m also pre nurse admitted.

I don’t know “how much” but they do account for you being veteran. They prefer locals and veterans (not necessarily both “local and veteran”) Also, I heard that half the seat is reserved/guaranteed to the students who took the pre-reqs at csusb and the other half is for the transfer students (not entirely sure if it’s actually 50%, but for PDC it is 50-50)

Anyone remember how many spots are available at each campus?

Pre-nursing meeting on June 3, 2020 4PM

They will be talking about the application process and such.

I'm not sure if it is helpful but I'll attend and see anyways.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the zoom session due to work. Could you please let me know what is discussed during the meeting? I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Should be very similar or identical to the mandated info session prior to an application if you already applied.

It wasn't an info session but it was similar. I wish they gave us a definite answer about when we will know. They just said they are still processing everything and they are very back up on things.

You didn't miss much. They mostly talk about Spring 2020 admission since the application will be online and that the school is transitioning from quarter to semester and there will be new requirements.

For Spring 2020, they will only allow students to take the TEAS twice and will take the highest score. Developmental Psychology will be a pre-req starting Spring 2020.

They changed the website information again. Instead of "June 15th," acceptance/denial letters will be sent "mid-June." They are really behind on things...

June 15th or mid-June is all the same time frame in my book. Stay positive and if you have the advantage of applying with a high TEAS and GPA then odds are in your favor.

Anyone here have medical experience already? I know that academics is important to get through the program but when your in a clinical setting and with patients those numbers don’t matter. I guess people will find out when you get to the field. I’m a phlebotomist and medical assistant for 9 years. I wish that was considered. My “stats” are OK but not what I’ve seen on here.
