CSU's not accepting new students for spring 2010?

Anyone else see in SFGATE that the CSU system will not be accepting applications in August for spring 2010 as was previously stated. It's also on the CSU MENTOR site. What the hell? Does this affect nursing schools? So far the Humboldt State site hasn't changed--it still reads that the application for spring will become available in August. If they aren't accepting applications through the CSU Mentor, then how are we supposed to then apply to the nursing programs that have spring admissions?

awesome! so, Wizzo, you finally got in since the last time me met! sweet man!:smokin:

Hahaha sadly, I'm not in the nursing program. I've actually decided to go into Health Science while I wait to be accepted. I think by the time I graduate, I'll get accepted because my friend's sister with the same grades as me took 2 years to get into the nursing program.

awww. Well i say good luck in your endeavors!

wish me luck too! i applied to CSU Bakersfield right before they closed winter and spring applications for the winter 2010 quarter, and they reviewed my nursing application. then i recieved an email saying that after they reviewed my application, i am "eligible for further consideration and possible acceptance to CSUB's spring of 2010 class." however, if the CSU budget cuts block my way, then they wont start a spring 2010 class and hold us off to start fall 2010  if they don't have enough funds. so i'm hoping they'll have enough $$$$ to start the last spring class in 2010 before budgets get worse.

please! please! please! i really need everyones wishes on this! if i get in the nursing school in the spring 2010, i will look back at everyone who hoped for me and give you my best of luck! I'm starting to feel really lucky about this personally too but I also feel the pressure of the double-sided coin being tossed if it's a yes or no.:uhoh21:

yes, this is just new since July 9th, 2009 I think. Anyways, there is an article about this on www.csumentor.edu. look at the "ALERT" and read the desicions regarding each term for applying. below them is a link to an article that the Cal State website put on. All CSU campuses are not accepting anymore for winter and spring of 2010.

Humboldt State is the only College accepting new students...and ONLY for the nursing program. But tuition is going to double.

See their disclaimer in the green box:

I wonder why Humboldt is the only one with enough money to accept transfers for the SON? I applied last week to HSU SON and will have my supplemental criteria sent ASAP. We shall see...

really? I just applied to HSU yesterday! I guess we're in this together now. I'm hoping CSUB out of all others though for spring 2010.

I didn't read where tuition is going to double but I anticipate that it will increase. in that case, I'm still hoping for CSU Bakersfield.

I spoke to the nursing department directly when I called the other day to ask about my C/PHN. They told me tuition was going to be doubled. I don't think that they being the only ones able to take students is a money thing. Something was granted to them. I wonder if it has to do with out NCLEX pass rate. My class was in the high 90s. I only heard of one person not passing the first time but passed the second time. I imagine there might be others, but everyone I heard passed. I guess we will not know for sure until the pass rates are updated.

Does anyone know when Humboldt will be sending out their notifications? I waas hoping as early as late October. Since Humboldt is about 5 hours away from me, I would need to plan housing and such if I were to attend their nursing program. However, some friends who applied for last spring said they didn't hear back until the beginning of December!!

Solidus,

Did you take pathophysiology as part of your prerequisites, and if so, where did you take it? How many units was it? I heard that patho is a requirement at CSU Bakersfield to be considered for the BSN program, but most community colleges don't offer it, or only offer it as part of the nursing curriculum.

I know this question wasn't directed at me, but my pathophys class was at SBCC (santa barbara city college) and it was 3 units. It was strictly online so anyone across country can essentially take it as there was no on-campus meeting.

elfgirl are you planning to apply to bakersfield?

Thanks, Bluechick. Elacer, I was thinking about it, but not sure because I don't have patho. At this point, I am getting desperate with only one application to a California school for spring. If I don't get in, I will probably run away for a few months (Spanish emersion in Central America, anyone?) because I'm tired of freakin' CA no money havin', no opportunity givin', craphole! I am bitter because I am totally ready to move on to nursing school and the CSU's are not taking us this spring. My friend told me "Its almost funny, except its your life." He was so right!
