Anyone else see in SFGATE that the CSU system will not be accepting applications in August for spring 2010 as was previously stated. It's also on the CSU MENTOR site. What the hell? Does this affect nursing schools? So far the Humboldt State site hasn't changed--it still reads that the application for spring will become available in August. If they aren't accepting applications through the CSU Mentor, then how are we supposed to then apply to the nursing programs that have spring admissions?
hahaha yea, I had that down as my alternative if I don't get into nursing school. I'd work abroad in exchange for food and shelter as a backpacker via agencies, go join the peace corps with my A.S. degree, or teach English in Europe. Yes, definitely see the world! I mean I am only 19 once and I'm young, so why not still do it when I am still able to?
Elfgirl and to all of those out there that are interested in CSUB... I applied to CSUB for the Spring 2010. I didn't take pathophys but as soon as I recieve conditional acceptance, I must take it at CSUB during the winter quarter. I really love CSUB though because of a really short 21 month BSN program. Pathophys is a prereq but it is not one of the essential prereqs they look at, meaning you can pass it with a C and they won't care as long as it had lab and is at least 4-5 units long. I got accepted to CSUB and I am waiting to hear from the nursing school in late Dec. I also went to CSUB to go talk to the nursing admissions person. The person told me that I have a really great chance depending on how well I do on my last prereqs and even showed me my rank estimate out of many applicants, including how many points I earned! We went over so many things and I felt as if I have a really good chance at that school. We both were left happy in the end too. I suggest everyone should apply to CSUB even though it may not seem like a desired place, but still, the impaciton is not as tough as other schools. You don't need to take pathophys when applying to CSUB. just make sure that you will finish it at CSUB when you get conditional acceptance. There are 13 prereqs that need to be compeleted before starting nursing classes. they are Chem, Physio, Pathophysio, Anatomy, Micro, Nutrition, Psych, Soci/Anthro, English, Stats, Crit Think/Logistics, Comm, and Lifecycle. they don't care if you get Cs in Pathophys, nutrition, psyc, soc/anthro, and lifecycle. the rest of the 8 are the important ones and will really count towards GPA and points.

I'm so down for running away for a few months if we're not accepted for spring! I mean, with all the prerequisites done, why not see the world!? :) Best of luck to you and keep in mind that we're all in this crap boat together!
