Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start this thread to compare our stats since the deadline to send in the supplemental application is approaching soon. CSULB's program is definitely competitive and I hope I have a chance to get in with my scores!

My stats:

4.0 GE GPA

4.0 Science GPA

92.7% Composite TEAS score

82.1% Reading TEAS score

Best of luck to everyone applying!! We got this!

So do all alternates/waitlisted people go to orientation?

Yes

Yes

I would double check with Mayra though just to make sure.

@Mrod3434 Hey sorry if you already answered this but I'm a little confused about the SOAR process. So we're signing up for an in-person orientation on one day (is that mandatory? How is it different from the June 3rd orientation?) and then there is a secondary date that says advising/registration begins, am is that a one on one meeting with an advisor? Or does that just mean registration is opened up and I'm on my own? My main concern is that GE course you were talking about. Is that the time that I sign up for that?

Yes, SOAR is mandatory! SOAR is two parts (in person and registration over zoom). The in person one is like the orientation for the school. They provide lunch and everything and get you familiar with the campus and resources. The online registration/advising is over zoom and you basically wait in a breakout room until someone is available to meet with you about any questions/concerns you may have about your classes. I didn't really understand what to ask because no one told me about asynchronous classes, but this is what you want to ask them about and see if they can assist you with signing up for one that meets the upper division GE category C requirement. That is the only thing you can sign up for because the nursing department gives you your schedule after your registration date (I don't understand why they do this-super inconvenient). This is why it's best if you pick an asynch class bc you won't even know your schedule yet.

And the June 3rd orientation is solely for the school of nursing.

@Mrod3434 thank you so much for your help!

Hi! Where can we sign up for SOAR? And when do we have to do it by?

For some reason I don't see the email? Was it sent to your personal or csulb email?

It was sent to my personal email. Maybe they haven't sent them out yet?

For my cohort it was sent out around a week after we found out about our acceptance.

I'm a pre-nursing student at CSULB and haven't heard anything back yet? Did anyone else who already goes to the school get an email? (Or know of anyone?) I didn't even hear if I was accepted waitlisted or denied yet

I'm not pre-nursing but I don't think you guys will find out until son sends out acceptance emails. transfers only found out bc we were accepted to the school

Mrod3434 said:

So for me, I go to school 2 days of the week. One of those days is for the upper division GE course that transfers have to take and the other day I have all of my nursing lectures. Some students were able to get their GE course on the same day or have it online so they only have to go up to the school one day a week. Then I go to the hospital 2 days a week (1 for preplanning and the following day is for clinical). So my schedule is like

S- Preplanning

M- Clinical

Tu- School (only for a couple hours)

W- Off

Th- School (all day)

F- Off

Sa- Off

Yes, that was including tuition. I paid around $3,400 for tuition (try and pay it in person because if you do it online the service fee is like $80-90). Then all the other fees add up like accepting your offer of admission ($120..?), SOAR (I think was $62), ATI books (1st payment is like $600), Elsevier book package ($300-400), GWAR placement exam ($25), uniforms (~$200..?), Castlebranch document tracker ($100), drug test through Castlebranch ($74), BLS recert class ($65), ($ for TB tests, physical, flu shot with your PCP), NSO insurance for clinical ($27), parking pass for the semester ($250). Those are all I can remember off the top of my head.

Hello! Do you happen to know if Nutrition 132 is a prerequisite for any nursing classes once you get into the program? I know a lot of people who are currently taking it but when I looked on the CSULB general nursing schedule, there was no nutrition class listed so I wasn't 100% sure!

Hello! I'm honestly not sure. I haven't taken it and I'm sure they would let us know if we had to have it for some of the classes so I'm assuming not ??‍♀️
