Hello! I'm new to allnurses.com and I hope I can fit in with you guys :redbeathe
I'm surprised that no one else has started a thread about CSU Long Beach's nursing interview for Fall 2011! The Interviews begin next week and isn't anyone out there as nervous as I am! I live in Norcal so the long drive down to Long Beach, will hopefully be well worth it!
I have only gathered small bits and pieces of information about the interview for CSULB and if you guys would like to share what you know with me; that would help a lot.
From previous threads on nursing Fall 2010 >> https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/csu-long-beach-452445.html
Haha I'm coming from Norcal to! I'll probably have my luggage in my car instead of on campus! It is supposed to be business casual. However, good luck to all of you. Mine's at 9am...I have to drive 3 hours before hand! Sigh I haven't got much sleep but it's ok, coffee will be my saviour! *sip* mmmm hazelnut.
I probably would call her tomorrow between 8am to 5pm; Monalisa's phone number is (562)985-2201. If she doesn't tell you during the phone conversation, you most likely can ask her at the nursing interview or afterwards. I think I'll hold off on questions until Friday. Right now I'm just getting ready for the road trip! Woot! I hope it truly is not a stressful interview. I just had two job interviews this week, and I actually got hired for one of them and the other one...dunno yet but I think I nailed it!! Haha, minimum wage is still better than no wage
Good luck to all of you!!:yeah:Hope you have a good time at Long Beach!
i'm confused - at the interview they said that 90 BSN students will be accepted into the program. does that mean that 45 students will start in Fall '11 while the other 45 students will start in Spr '12? Or do all 90 students start in Fall '11? If they do split up the students, is it completely random how students are selected & assigned to a start semester? Assuming they split up students, within each 45 student cohort are students then selected at random (i.e. lottery) to enter the Basic & Trimester BSN program?
I'm asking because I originally assumed that all students are applying for the Fall '11 semester only; obviously if I get accepted at another CSU for the Fall '11 semester, it may be advantageous to go there rather than CSULB if they only offer a Spr '12 start semester.
No everybody starts in Fall' 11. During orientation they will ask people who wants to be in the trimester and the regular one. If there is more people that want the trimester one then they will do a lottery. The division is to determine which hospital u will do ur clinicals. If u r in the trimester one u do it at long beach memorial and for the regular one u do it at the veteran's one ( the hospital next to our school). Hope this helps.
Thank you for starting this thread, I also applied for fall 2011 and looking at your posts have been very helpful. I'm new here so hello to all! Has anyone heard from the nursing program yet? This Friday will be 3 weeks from the last interview so hopefully we can all find out soon! Does anyone know if we are notified VIA email or snail mail? Thanks
I think the last interview was friday 3/18 which would be 2 weeks this friday. i believe they said that they will post a list of those admitted outside the nursing office in about 2 weeks for those who live close to CSULB campus. If you do not live near CSULB then you'll probably have to wait to receive a letter notifying applicants of admission status which will come in 3 weeks+ from the last interview. But someone else may want to confirm this. Anyone live near CSULB campus and know whether this list has been posted yet?
Thanks for the great info guys :) PiaMia4ever, if the list is posted outside of the nursing building next Friday that would be awesome if you could let us know. I don't attend CSULB but I live close and I would love to drive by and see the list instead of waiting for a letter! Until then, good luck to everyone :)
