CSULB FALL 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Long Beach for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can compare and discuss statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program.

I don't think they will; they haven't in the past. I've heard that most of the time, of all of the students that get in, only a few of did their prereqs at csulb. Most of the students that are admitted are transfers from community colleges

Well that’s good to hear! Hopefully all 3 of us get in. Did you apply to other schools?

I did! I applied to several other CSUs, although csulb is my first choice. I can't really see myself anywhere else as of now, because I really like it here. What about you, where else did you apply to?

I only applied to CSULA and CSULB. I live in Culver City/Palms area and i'm not willing to move or get an associated degree lol. Hopefully I get into one of them or I will start thinking of a plan B. I know i'm crazy for only applying to two schools lmao. CSULA is my first choice since it is only 15 miles from my house, but I would gladly commute to CSULB if I got into there. It's only 30 miles from my house but i'd be going against traffic...

Yeah, CSULA is my 2nd choice. Most of the other CSUs I applied to are in NorCal and I don't really wanna go all the way over there LOL. Oh yeah, the traffic and parking for commuters here is absolutely awful! That's LA for you, I guess haha

Yeahhhh LA would be like a 30 min drive, and Long Beach would be like a 45 min drive. Sucks but it is what it is lol. I didn’t even apply anywhere else because I really don’t want to move. I live on my own in a rent controlled apartment and I already work as a massage therapist in Santa Monica so I would like to keep a shift or two there. My whole life is here in LA so it would kill me to move somewhere else for 3 years lol

Wow, you're a massage therapist? That's awesome! Does that get you extra points on the CSULA app?

Yes it does actually. I work at a chiropractic office and I massage the patients there so it counts as health work lol. I also volunteered at kaiser, but they only look at count one experience for some reason

Nice! You probably have a pretty good chance of getting into CSULA as well then! I can't believe the csulb app is still open; I don't want to wait another month for communication exercise emails ?

I hope you guys get in!

I am currently freaking out right now because I realized that I had made mistake on my application after I submitted it. Instead of putting the name of my high school for a course I got AP Credit for, I put the name of my university. I emailed them and and hoping to get a response; I hope they do not withdraw my application.

Last year they started sending the communication exercise emails on Feb 21st which is only 11 days after the deadline. Seems like they look thru the applications pretty quickly. Hopefully it goes the same way this year...

I'm sure you are fine. I have two classes that are supposed to be "in progress" as "completed" by accident. Once I saved it, it wouldn't let me change it back. I put my grade as "IP" so they would know it is in progress and not completed. I called the admissions office at CSULB and they told it's totally fine and not to worry about it unless its a major discrepancy. I would call the admissions office and if they don't answer, leave a voice mail. They call back in 2-3 business days.

Wow, thank you, that’s a relief to hear! Was your discrepancy on the actual application to CSULB? I am pre-nursing at CSULB so I made my error on the Nursing Application, so I guess I would have to notify the SON instead of the admissions office. Thanks for your feedback!
