CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Published

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

Ana: Yes, I live near Saddleback, and it takes 20 minutes to get to there :)

I don't live too far either so I'll be seeing you bright and early soon! I hope he lets us out of class earlier than 11am because a 4 hour class twice a week sounds horrid!!! I couldn't find that professor anywhere on ratemyprofessor.com, I'm curious to know as to whether or not he'lll be easy on us.

Ha ha ha. How could I forget that lady? I distinctively remember showing up the first day. Mmm I don't know. Keep looking. Click on class description or something and it should say. Maybe I emailed her inquiring about adding and she said show up, but when I got there it wasn't just the people trying to add that we're there. An entire class of people were there. She also gave an assignment the first day

I can't tell, but did you not like her or did you?

You guys are lucky to be so close to Saddleback College. It's pretty far for me, so it can't be an option. Not to mention, it seems like spaces are filling up fast!!! I guess that is how it's going to be at other CCs too, with budget cuts and all.

Is anyone planning to take patho and/or pharm at SBCC? I'm not sure if the whole online thing will work for me. I don't think I'll retain all that information by taking it online. I would prefer to have a teacher and meet face to face. What do you guys think?

WOOOH 1,000TH POST IN THIS THREAD!!! :w00t:

I've heard Patho is easy at SBCC online. Plus you're taking online tests (open book tests), how can you pass that opportunity? I'd go for it if I were you. Worst case scenario you pass with a C but since you're already in the nursing program GPA doesn't matter anymore (unless you're crazy OCD about your GPA like myself haha). We'll go over patho more in depth as we progress through the program and everything will make sense and click when we start our care plans for clinicals as far as disease mechanisms. Same with pharm; if you're unable to retain all the info over summer, we're going to be seeing a lot of meds during our rotations and soon enough you'll become familiar with the meds (plus pharm goes WAY in depth as far as which receptors are blocked/activated with each drug which I doubt we'll be utilizing much of this material in the program). I think if you're able to at least get into one of the classes this summer you should go for it! Anything to lighten your load for the fall while you become familiar with the nursing process. You should also look up the professors on ratemyprofessor.com and see what other people who have taken their classes have to say about them!

Didn't take her. She didn't add me that semester. Took ----- and LOVED her!

Clueless: I'm going to try and take both classes over the summer at SBCC. I'm also a bit worried about not getting the indepth info necessary for the program, but in a past post someone suggested to sit in on the CSULB pharm class just to review. You will get the knowledge, yet will not have to worry about the assignments/exams.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site :)

Hello everyone, I have a question for those applying or have completed Pathophysiology or Pharmacology at SBCC? It states you have to take their pre-req Biomedical Science course 146 or something, is that true? or can you just register for it without the pre-req?

Nope. You need the prereqs and you have to fax them a copy of your transcripts proving that you've satisfied the requirement before they'll clear you to register. They name their classes differently. The prereqs for Patho are Anatomy and physiology.
