Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
Aw thanks!
And yes I have a 4.0 in my science pre reqs. It is probably due to my overall GPA being like a 3.15. What is funny is they havent even seen my transcripts yet. So that is why I am wondering why CSULB enrollment would say that unless the program is taking the crappy way out by making admissions and enrollment send denials. The only people at CSULB that have my transcripts is the nursing program. Weird huh?
I wish they would take extra consideration to those in the healthcare field, but they dont.
As for ADN, I am thinking that that is the route that I am going to have to take because all of the BSN programs want service area students (I applied to CSUSB, CSULB, and CSULA). So if I am zoned not for those schools then I am basically an automatic denail and the CA budget takes the blame. I am not the only one with decent grades and a decent background that is getting screwed.
So it is ADN for me. I applied to Citrus and RCC as ADN schools. I missed Rio Hondos deadline and Chafffey needed some math class that you can only do there. I am working two jobs right now so I could not afford to go to two different schools. I am worried that if I get my ADN, I may not get a job. But, since I am a CNA at a hospital, and my director is pretty cool, I am thinking I can get a job where I work with an ADN. Who knows at this point.
I'm going to call them first and ask them how they know if I am competitive enough if they have never seen my transcripts. Its really said, they said I wasn't competitive enough for the second round screening for the nursing major. Again how do they know? I have never sent them transcripts
I typed this super long reply and it got deleted/didn't post
Anyway, they probably did make the decison based on your overall gpa. The colleges I applied to don't request transcripts till later on, and give out admission decisions before it. For example I got provisional acceptance to CSUS but have not submitted any transcripts to the admissions office yet (I did to the School of nursing, but I don't think they share them). CSULB probably made that decision without knowing you applied to the BSN program, and just saw you as another transfer student trying to get into an impacted major.
I also think they should look other things such as experience and letter of recs etc. Basing admissions on brain-smarts doesn't mean someone will be a great nurse. I understand they have the interviews to make sure you can communicate well, but a lot of students also do nursing for the wrong reasons.
@DarkBluePhoenix They probably based their decision on the information you entered on the application. They sent me an email about a month ago saying that i was being considered for the second round of admission provided i send them my transcripts. The only way they would allow me to continue is based on the information i provided on the application.

Once your transcripts are sent in, they are uploaded to a system and can be accessed by admissions and records, nursing program admissions, and financial aid.
I looked on assist.org and F/N20 at LBCC is equivalent (according to the website) to NUTR132 which I already took. Isn't the NUTR required for the program NUTR 339? It isn't shown on the assist.org website though.
I took F/N 20 (nutrition) at LBCC and it was accepted by CSULB nursing. Now I don't have to take nutrition class which is a wednesday night class at the hospital. I strongly recommend you try to take it in the summer... and Pharm.

Yeah if I get into CSULB I will plan to take Pharm and FN20 in the summer. I just thought it was weird that the equivalent of FN20 isnt NUTR339 which is the nutrition you are required to take for nursing (if I remember correctly). The equivalent of FN20 was nutr132 which is introductory nutrition at CSULB. Anyway, how did you hear about the FN20 class? They didn't post any nutrition equivalents on the nursing website

I just called the nursing office and asked them.
The class is F/N 20 (Food and Nutrition) and is usually offered online in the summer. I just logged into LBCC registration and Summer 2012 schedule is not available yet.
LBCC summer classes will not be posted until offer April. And you're right, they usually offer it in the summer. I think it's a good idea to get some of these classes out of the way, but honestly NUTR 339 is only second to Nursing Communication as the easiest nursing class of the first semester and practically everyone gets A's in those two classes. I would focus more on patho and pharm.
Also, March 14? I hope you guys are right about that. Only a week+ more of waiting!
I am taking FN 50 at Saddleback college online this semester. I got confirmation from MonaLisa that this is equivalent to CSULB's nutrition class. It's super easy, and I bet they will offer it in the summer. I am also getting super anxious for interviews! If anyone hears anything, please let us all know!

You have to check every class individually, if it is available it will have a summer 2012 option so that you can see the time, campus, classroom, etc. If you check some of the more popular classes, like english or math, you'll see that the summer shcdule is available. That being said, there's still plenty of time for them to add more classes.
