Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.
http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/PoolStatsFall11.pdf
Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
Thanks! I'm new to this site and looking at all these high scores is intimidating! Also read a 4.0 got thrown out b/c they only had limited spots for transfer students?! Bogus....I have all A's, but have biochem IP. Feels like I won't be getting in for fall. Spring 2013 is my only hope! Do you know if they will still be accepting transfers for spring 2013? I know last spring they didnt due to budget cuts

Each semester depends on the budget at the time and whatever might be going on in Sacramento. My class (Spring 2012) had no limitations regarding transfers, second bachelor's, or CSULB students. It was based on score...top ones get in.
Thanks BeachsideNic for all your input/information for all of us Fall 2012 applicants.
I was wondering, was the nursing program all that you anticipated? Are you overwhelmed by all the studying and work or have you found ways to adapt to it and what have you done to decrease your stress? Does your social life really get taken away or do you still find a little time to see friends and relax? I'm anxiously waiting and want to know what students think about their first semester in the nursing program.
Also, in your other post you said that we can take Pharmacology and Nutrition online. Do you think it would be too much to take both in the summer or should I only take one? How long is the online course and is it expensive? Sorry for all of the questions but I appreciate any reply you can give!
Anyone get admission information yet? For transfers?
CSULB enrollment services just emailed me saying I am not allowed into CSULB as a nursing major because I am not competitive enough. Sounds to me like they know something I dont....They said I am still competitive to attend CSULB but not as a nursing major. I just wish I would have heard it from CSULB nursing program over enrollment services. Half the time the actual school has no idea what the nursing program is doing and vice versa. Oh well I guess I am out. Good luck to you all. I hope you all get in, and have no fear if you dont, crap happens and you will get in somewhere else! Dont put all your eggs in one basket!

The CSULB nursing program is truly amazing so far.. The professors are great and supportive and there are many resources for students. There is a LOT of studying and reading to do, but it is up to each student to figure out time management, because every student's life is different. I have time to spend with my family and friends, just not as much as i used to. The professors encourage us to have a life, because if you don't, then your studies WILL suffer. Personal life, eating, and sleeping are essential to your success in the program. All-nighters will NOT get you anywhere... It's all about proper planning and scheduling your life to include everything you need. You will be helped with this.
I would strongly recommend getting Pharm and Nutrition out of the way in the summer if you can. It will make your first semester much more breathable. Check http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/ApprovedPharmacologyandPathophysiologyCourses.pdf to see which pharm and/or patho classes will transfer to the program. I took it online at Santa Barbara City College and got an A, so it is defeinitely doable. It's a community college, so it's cheap, and I took Nutrition online at Long Beach City College. I haven't checked if they are available in the summer, but just be proactive and look for the best way to take the courses.
They said what?! Don't you have a 4.0 in your pre-reqs? I've been reading your posts and you seem like you have a great GPA, great background, and an urge to help others. Don't give up yourself, I know you'll be a great nurse one day. A counselor told me it's an easier (but longer) route to be an ADN then get your BSN, but I'm sure you knew that already! seems like everyone here is so up to date with everything, lol. Where else did you apply?
The class is F/N 20 (Food and Nutrition) and is usually offered online in the summer. I just logged into LBCC registration and Summer 2012 schedule is not available yet.Okay, that's understandable. Thanks for the input. And to anyone who's curious about it, I doubt LBCC will offer nutrition during the summer. Summer schedules are online now, and the class isn't there. So unless they update it, I doubt it'll happen.

I looked on assist.org and F/N20 at LBCC is equivalent (according to the website) to NUTR132 which I already took. Isn't the NUTR required for the program NUTR 339? It isn't shown on the assist.org website though.

Assist.org won't list everything. Best to check with what the Nursing department requires.
