Hi all! I wanted to start a thread for folks who are applying to CSULB starting Fall 2018. I would love to hear other applicants!
Just a heads up for those who got admitted, if you haven't done it already, the next graduation writing assessment(GPE) is held on june 16, which is the day after the mandatory orientation(june 15). This is the only chance to take it before going to SOAR on july 17, where you sign up for classes so I highly suggest you register for GPE for june 16.
If it's true that the top 30 were admitted then I'm not feeling very confident with my 9.51 since people with 9.4-9.6 got waitlisted. The cutoff seems INSANELY high this year, unless they are just scoring the comm exercise differently or something. I really wish they weren't sending out emails in batches like this. I was looking at past years and everyone got the email around the same time.

I do think the exercise scoring may have changed which could be why people with higher scores got waitlisted because since there's technically 3 activities they could have just made each worth 2/3 of a point so it's not just a pass/fail and top 80 going into the interviews are pretty much guaranteed entry to the program as long as they do well at the interview. Also, remember that the top 30 includes military because of that extra point, and since not everyone is on here, there could've been people that got waitlisted that have the same or a higher score as someone that got in
Hey guys!! For those of you that I didn't see at the interview, here are some preliminary things you should get done or plan to get done before starting in the Fall!
-Take the GPE. The earlier you do this, the better, just to get it out of the way.
-Save at least $1000. You will have to purchase the ATI bundle which is about $800 not to mention clinical gear, textbooks, SOAR, parking passes, and other expenses. You can find most of the first semester books as online PDFs if you want to save some money or are just into e-books. If you can, buy some things beforehand so you don't have one massive hole in your wallet at once, like stethoscope, shoes for clinical, a WhiteCoat clipboard (very handy for clinical), things like that.
-TAKE PHARM AND PATHO. I can't stress this enough. You will save yourself so much time, stress, and anxiety if you get these classes done beforehand. Bonus points if you take nutrition beforehand too, although I hear its an easy class so it doesn't really matter if you take this first. If you won't be completing patho and pharm by the start of the program, though, at least try to take Nutrition first.
-Start developing healthy habits such as eating breakfast every morning, getting enough sleep, reading to keep your brain up and moving, etc...
-Take the time to have fun because nursing school leaves very little room for anything else. Travel, make memories, break a world record!
Good luck to everyone still awaiting acceptances!!
Yes, I received an email April 6th confirming that I was on the wait list. It also is asking for transcripts to be submitted no later than April 20th. I'm gonna have to take a drive down to CSULB because my school isn't the fastest at sending out transcripts.
did you receive the email from SON or CSULB admissions?

Maybe that explains why some people were told they'd hear something in 2-3 weeks, and others would hear in 3-4 weeks.
