CSULA BSN Program Fall 2018
I got the email back in March saying I was accepted to the nursing program/school (I'm a transfer), and I only have 23 points. My prerequisite GPA and cumulative GPA both 4.0, reading TEAS 89%, english TEAS 88%, and no volunteer/work experience. Seems strange that people with more points than me are saying they got denial letters, and I haven't heard anything since the March email.

I also found that the points system for GPA's was very strange and unfair due to the omission option because I also worked very hard to get my 4.0 and many other people can omit their B's to get a 4.0 like mine since points also awarded only on the adjusted GPA. Also a huge flaw I found with the GPA point system was that the "minimum GPA" allowed to apply was a 3.3 but if you have a 3.3 you get 0 points. Even if you get 100% on the TEAS and all optional criteria, you still do not meet the 60 point cut off so the actual minimum GPA you need to apply is like 3.43. This aspect of the GPA points seriously needs to be adjusted because it makes no sense. Even with a 4.0, 91 on the TEAS, and being trilingual (but not having tests to prove I am so I couldn't get those extra points), I had 71 points and probably am not in the top 100 possibly because of the grade omission option. I got into other nursing schools, so I'm not relying on getting into here to be able to go to a nursing school but their points scale made it fairly difficult for very good students to get admitted if they don't have any of the 20 extra points, which I think does make it unfair to those students.

To get into the SON you just need your prereq done but to transfer into the school you may need to have a certain number of units or a certain number of GE units so look online at what transfers need to get into the school

If they do an orientation before classes start then they will probably do the drug test then but there will definetly be a drug test because the hospitals require it to do clinicals

I do think the exercise scoring may have changed which could be why people with higher scores got waitlisted because since there's technically 3 activities they could have just made each worth 2/3 of a point so it's not just a pass/fail and top 80 going into the interviews are pretty much guaranteed entry to the program as long as they do well at the interview. Also, remember that the top 30 includes military because of that extra point, and since not everyone is on here, there could've been people that got waitlisted that have the same or a higher score as someone that got in

I also heard that the top 30 were admitted but it may have something to do with the amount of clinical seats they have confirmed. Not totally sure if that's the case or not but it's what people currently in the program have heard

I'm a current CSULB student and got it at 12:44 saying that I got in. Congrats to everyone that got in and hopefully those that are alternates can also get in!!!

I do believe they all went out at once. If your portal says pending then you are probably on the alternate list and will be notified if you're admitted once people start accepting/declining the offer when other schools start rolling out acceptances

Anyone else's portal still says nursing premajor but the email said that you received admission to the School of Nursing?

Not yet :/

CSULB BSN Fall 2018
I'm a current CSULB student so it may be different for transfers but as long as you sent your TEAS scores to CSULB and submited your official transcripts with your application you shouldn't have anything in your to dos until you're admitted to the program

Mine said admitted after I got the email and it still says admitted. I haven't paid the $100 deposit yet because I'm waiting to hear back from other schools but I did send them my transcripts but they haven't arrived yet

The FAQ on the website says 70 students are accepted each year

Hey guys! So I also called and they said to send your transcripts because of the 30 day time limit, but from how she sounded if you got the email you're probably in because she said they'll be sending out another email to confirm it so idk for sure but it sounded pretty hopeful to me!
