Hi all! I wanted to start a thread for folks who are applying to CSULB starting Fall 2018. I would love to hear other applicants!
Im Group A at 9 AM! Does anyone understand where to meet lol I know its around Parking lot 1/ Near the Nursing Building but she said something about a breezeway and Im kind of confused.
Park in lot 1 and go onto the sidewalk, you should see current nursing students at a table on your right
Hi!I was wondering if you can give us some insight as to the kind of schedule we would be working with in the nursing program. Are classes/clinicals mostly during the AM? How many days/week? Can we expect to get out by a certain time? I know that all these factors will vary greatly depending on the rotation, but I just wanted to see if there was a rough pattern (at least for the first year). The reason I'm asking is because i'll have to be working, and I also live almost 30 miles away. Do you think the commute would be too much while being a nursing student at LB?
Hi!! So you are put into clinical groups and the days and times of your various classes and clinical are scheduled for you, so you cannot pick. Catherine Mullins will ask you guys at your nursing orientation to tell her ahead of time what days and times you are and aren't available. All of this semester's classes for both the semester and trimester groups start in the AM and end early afternoon apart from Nutrition which is at night (and is usually at night from what I've heard). My particular schedule has 2 days of lecture and 1 clinical day because my classes land on the same day, but some other groups have 3 days of lecture and one clinical day. Clinical is typically from 7am-4pm or 6:30am-3:30pm one day a week for the first semester.
As far as your commute goes, if you can't help it then it's fine. I have students in my cohort who commute everyday and live in Mission Viejo and Monterey Park that drive about 45 minutes back and forth everyday then spend another 10 minutes parking. It's not ideal, but it's not bad at all besides the fact that it cuts into your study time and you will probably hit traffic at the times you will be leaving clinical and class.

Hello. Is it difficult to find parking at the hours we have the interviews? What do you think is the best thing to do? Arrive super ealry to find parking, or is there a parking lot with plenty of available spaces. Thank you.

So I received a call from ----------- today saying she was still waiting on my choice of exercise times. I called her back and it turns out a bunch of us never received the initial email. Funny way to find out I made it through the first step! And I'm so grateful that --------------- actually reached out because I would have never known!!
3pm Group B - Congratulations and good luck to all :) We've worked so hard for this and it's really so exciting that we're almost there!
