I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
This semester conversion is making me nervous... It's either going to be really good for us, or it's going to really suck. They won't know how it will effect the students until they actually implement it.
But think about the possible scenarios:
Semester = 16 weeks / Quarter = 10 weeks
1. If they fit two Quarters into one semester, then the workload would have to be even more condensed (fitting 20 weeks of class into 16 weeks)
2. If they drag out the courses to semester length, it would take 6 years to finish...lol (that's not gonna happen)
3. If they change the curriculum completely, who knows what will happen...
It seems there will be a DRASTIC shift, one way or the other. And we don't know if the impact on us will be positive or negative until we are already underway with the program.... But it doesn't seem like it's going to become better.
We are the guinea pigs...lol
I just applied for CSULB Spring '15. With my Micro class finished, I am now guaranteed a spot at LB with my score.
just keeping all options open....
The Fall schedule is already posted. Our individual course lecture times are already set (the whole cohort is in the same lecture). We only have options in choosing the corresponding lab days/times.
Do a mock-up schedule of what you'd like, and hope the lab you want is still open when it's your turn to register.
Well... I'm officially announcing my resignation from the LA program.
I have decided to start at CSULB in the Spring. For me , personally, there were too many plusses to the LB program.
-It's only 2 years
-no +/- grades
-gives me this fall semester to finish my last history requisite
-If i Attend LB, My job gives me a raise to $18/hr.
