Hello,
Has anyone else submitted an application for CSULA ELMN program for summer 2010? When the information was posted in December there was only a window of a few weeks to send in the application and materials. I haven't gotten a confirmation or heard anything back from the admissions office yet. I am hoping this thread can be a place we all share information about when we get interviews or hear anything about acceptances. So, please feel free to post if you applied or hear anything!
thanks! i look forward to meeting you guys soon.
The biggest pro about CSULA, which was the only school i've applied to, is that they don't have expiration dates on any of their pre-reqs. I was NOT happy thinking about re-taking a lot of the classes i took during undergrad for other schools. I didn't want to pay to take them again!! So, it worked out and i'm very excited to get started!
It might be too soon to start asking. But, have any of you got an email about the orientation May 1st? I'm not going to have a physical and TB test done but I'll be able to show CPR and immunizations. The coordinator mentioned that we should be working on these things when I responded to her acceptance email a while back in case you were wondering. Also, I don't think they have sent our names to the admissions office yet because I called them today and they had no idea I was admitted. I'm just eager to get things moving and possibly start to look at financial aid stuff, because it does start in June. I talked to the financial aid office today and they were saying because the program starts in summer it will be difficult to get finaid money? Apparently they needed a form by March 5th for a summer priority deadline. But they said that by Fall everything will be reimbursed but summer it is hard to get money. That didn't make me feel to confident, but I'm sure we will hear all about it at the orientation. Well that was my 20 minutes spent out of this entire month trying to get some info. Maybe you guys had some better luck...
Hi and congratulations to everybody! I've also been admitted to the CSULA ELMN program for summer 2010. I just received info about the orientation today in the mail. It included the orientation schedule and immunization form. I'm assuming we don't need to have everything finished until the start date (June 21st). My application status still says "incomplete" as well due to department review, and it has been a month since i accepted the offer. I'm stressing about the financial aid also. I've contacted financial aid a few times and I think I get a different answer every time I call. I was told that I needed to have a summer application (downloaded from their website) submitted by April 5th for summer aid priority consideration. It looks like the orientation includes a section to discuss aid with financial aid reps though, so hopefully we'll have more answers then. Is anybody planning to work at all during the program?
Hi guys, I am attending the ELMN program as well and also am a little anxious about the financial aid stuff. I know we were supposed to get a form signed by the nursing dept. to prove our classification as a graduate student, and to turn in a summer aid request form (due 4/5). I have not done any of that yet as I am coming from out of state. Hopefully it will get sorted out at orientation but it might be good to start looking into private education loans in the meantime.
I love how nobody told us about the 4/5 deadline, I thought the finaid person said March...but April that was like a week ago. No one did it, because we just started thinking about it now. It would have been nice to get an email from the school, but I have to trust that this is not the first year for the program...and they probably know more about what's going on. But then again, this is the first year for the huge tuition increase and summer session budget crisis so this might be a new learning experience for everyone. Ok, so we are suppose to get something in the mail...that's good to know :)
Hey guys,
I saw ----- today and she said she was told that overall (the entire university) not many people applied for summer financial aid. So that's good for us. It's still a good idea to get your summer financial aid form (this is a separate form in addition to fafsa) along with the verification of graduate student status form into the FA office as soon as possible!
I'm also hoping I'll win the lottery so I won't have to stress about the financial aspect of this.:)
