CSULA ELMN Applicants 2010

Published

Hello,

Has anyone else submitted an application for CSULA ELMN program for summer 2010? When the information was posted in December there was only a window of a few weeks to send in the application and materials. I haven't gotten a confirmation or heard anything back from the admissions office yet. I am hoping this thread can be a place we all share information about when we get interviews or hear anything about acceptances. So, please feel free to post if you applied or hear anything!

Hi there,

I applied to the program - had my application dropped off by a friend back in January. I haven't heard anything back yet either, but a coworker of mine who also applied to the program got an email last week saying her app was complete.

I got a little nervous since I sent in my whole app minus my TEAS scores. I took the TEAS at CSULA on January 28 and got the results back in a week. I called ATI a few times and they assured me that CSULA should get my scores because I took the test at their campus, but I called anyway to check. She told me they hadn't received the scores and could I email her a copy of the pdf.

I believe the deadline for TEAS scores is today, so I don't think it would hurt to check with the nursing department if that's the only thing your app was missing.

At any rate, best of luck! Fingers crossed for interviews!

I emailed the coordinator today and told her I just submitted my TEAS scores electronically a few days ago and whether or not we should be receiving confirmation emails. She wrote back that they are just beginning to email applicants as they are still receiving lots of stuff. That was a relief! Everything will work out, just send her a copy today...she got back to me in 10 minutes!

It was good to hear from you, goodluck I will post when I know more.

Does anyone know how many applicants there are this year, or had a chance to ask?

Hey innatchka,

I just wanted to let you know, and anyone else who reads this. I got called a couple days ago for an interview. I scheduled it at the end of this month...she also mentioned she has a few dates through March as well. I still think some applications are incomplete and if anyone hasn't gotten a confirmation email from her saying their app is complete...then she probably just hasn't gotten to your application yet.

I wish you and your coworker goodluck (the only other applicants I know of )

Hope to hear from more people on the forums too....

Hey AeroNat13 and Innatchka,

I also applied back at the start of January and then took the TEAS on the 29th of January. I received an email from the program coordinator, during the first week of February, in which she said that my app was complete and that I met all the requirements for the program. Then, last Monday, I received another email to schedule an appointment for an interview. I am going in to see her on Tuesday, March 16th. It's all very exciting since CSULA is my first choice. I've already been accepted to Mt. St. Mary's ABSN for the Summer start session, but I would prefer getting into a direct Masters program.

I'm also wondering how many people applied this year to CSULA, especially with the huge increase in tuition for the program.

Cheers and Goodluck!

Congrats to you too! Do you know how much more of a tuition increase was it from last year? It still has to be a lot cheaper than any private schools like USD, USF, Western. I thought it wasn't that much for state schools, I thought the UC schools are having even higher increases.

I have a feeling apps must be up even higher this year...nursing is such a "hot" career to describe it from the public's perspective. However I think a lot of people apply but only people who really have experience in the field of nursing, and a personal statement that shows it, etc. are getting admitted...every school is only accepting 20-50 of the best of 300-600 applicants. But I'm curious about CSULA because last year was it 140, it doesn't seem as much as other schools.

Hi guys,

I have my interview scheduled for this Friday, February 26. I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to interview, but I also wonder how many applicants they received. I have a friend who is doing her Masters in biology at CSULA and I believe her tuition is about 1500 or 2000 a quarter. If we were going to be charged regular grad student rate, that would be 2000 x 5 quarters = 10,000. I did my undergrad at UCLA and this seems like such a bargain. However, I calculated that with the recent increase to $425/unit, the 76 unit prelicensure program comes to about $36,000.

I'm also wondering if we'll be allowed to work during the program - I didn't have anything intense in mind, as I will be quitting my full time job if I get in, but I was thinking of maybe tutoring at the local CC or something along those lines. I also applied to CSUN and they make you sign a promise to not work during the ABSN program. With the rise in tuition at CSULA, I'm wondering how much money I will need to take out in student loans + personal loans for rent/food/etc.

At any rate, good luck with your interviews!

*Woops - that should be $32,300.

Do you guys think there were also similar increases at other cal state schools, like Fullerton or Long Beach's programs. I'm wondering if its just CSULA, because I remember they all used to be like 10,000-15,000 for the first year and a half last time I checked for most of the state schools. I thought they were all such a bargain that I decided against applying to any private schools. Wow can't believe tuition pretty much doubled

Hey all! I also applied for the ELMN program for fall. I haven't received any notice from CSULA to say whether they've reviewed my application yet :| Do any of you know what the coordinator's email is? I'm starting to get really worried! :( Good luck to the rest of you! :)

I'll send you the email
