I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2017 nursing program. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!
I'm enjoying it. Met a lot of friends in the program whom I de-stress with. The classes themselves are very concept-based, so it's taking me a while to accommodate my old pre-nursing study methods (rote memorization, quizlet, etc) and find new ways to study the materials. Just a heads up, I guess lol.
Thanks, I seriously appreciate all the info you're giving me. Makes me feel like I'm at least a little ready for what's coming my way. How are the lab environments? Good material? Also, if you don't mind me asking, would you recommend a student to take an upper GE first semester of nursing school? I heard its the safest choice. Promise, I won't ask anymore questions!(:

Sorry, I don't reply fast enough. I don't get notifications on my email that you're replying
Yes, it's recommended for transfer students to take upper div classes during the the Fall semesters of your first and second years since those semesters are usually lighter in course materials.
You have two types of "labs" I suppose. An actual simulated lab where you practice assessment with each other (the room is built like a multiple-room clinic) and the other lab where the room is built like an emergency department equipped with manikins. This is where youll be spending the bulk of your time in first semester in these labs. I don't know how to answer your question lmao it's spring break and my brain is basically off í ½í¸‚í ½í¸‚
Oh, and don't fret asking too much questions or concerns lol. I am more happy to answer them.

Yah, I am a current Calstate LA student and I have 2 more upper GEs left. So, I guess I'll try to register for an online upper GE course for Fall so it's not too bad. No worries about the late replies! I don't even expect you to reply, but you are kind enough to do so and give me all this amazing information. Glad to know the lab environment is good! Not sure what your name is but you've been such great help, so thanks again. Have a relaxing spring break before classes start!

You're so nice haha. Oh, and my bad. I thought you meant the upper GE theme classes they require everyone to take. Yeah, many of my friends took online classes to get enough units to reach full time since all our Nursing class units don't equal 12 units aka full time í ½í¸© My name is Chris by the way. I can't wait to meet you all during orientation this summer í ½í±Œ

Yes, it sounds scary still, but I feel better about meeting everyone now. I'm 100% sure the rest of the students are as nice as you! I'm anxiously waiting for the orientation packet. It was so nice to meet you Chris!
