CSULA BSN Fall 2017

Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2017 nursing program. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

So my first question is I am currently a community college student and I am planning on taking physiology in the winter (Jan.11-Feb.10) but I know the deadline for CSULA's nursing program is in January but is it still possible to apply this year? Will that class show up as a C on my transcript since I will not have it done by their deadline if I apply? So confusedí ½í¸¦

The only classes that CSULA lets you have in progress while you apply is microbiology and stats ! You can email Monica Ling she is the one that accepts the students and ask her too just to make sure !

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

Thread has been moved to our Student forum for more responses.

:( I really wanted to apply this year. I have another question say I take that extra year and complete CSULA's graduation requirements and all extra classes needed meanwhile I wait to apply next year. Can it take me 2 years to complete my BSN versus having it to take me 3 years since all I would be needing is the SON requirements?

It will take you three years for the BSN program because thats how the program is set up. You have to take the nursing classes in order every semester and that takes 3 years no matter what because each nursing class is a pre req for the following nursing classes. What you can do is finish all your general education classes and your upper division theme classes which are requirements to graduate so you dont take them while ur in the nursing program !

Hi everyone I'm getting ready to apply for Fall 2017 at CSULA too. I have some questions if you guys could please help me out I would really appreciate it.

I took the TEAS at CSULA and on ATI's website it lists my selected school as CSULA, so will ATI automatically send my scores to CSULA for me?

I volunteered at a hospital in high school for a little over 100 hours and I don't know if it will count, can anyone clarify? I would sit in the volunteer office and wait for a task to be assigned to me. I would run samples to the lab from different departments and I would move and discharge patients with a wheelchair, would this meet their standards?

I'm finishing physiology at my community college in the fall (mid December), would I be able to meet the application deadline in January for fall 17? My profs will probably upload grades by Christmas (hopefully), so if i got a rushed transcript I could get my application in on time? I read somewhere you have to apply to CSULA in October or something and then the SON by January, can someone please outline how the application process works I have no idea, thanks so much for reading.

Hello !

Yes ATI will send your scores to CSULA however on the online application process to apply to the nursing program it asks you to attach a copy of your ATI TEAS test results. once you get the TEAS results on the website just convert the results as a PDF and attach it as a file on your application.

There is no time limit on your volunteer hours. I used mine I had done from sophomore-senior year of my high school. You can and definitely should use those hours!

As for your physio. class I am pretty sure you will be fine as long as you get it done by the application deadline. The nursing program requires you have everything done except you can have micro & stats in progress. What I would do just in case is make an appointment with Monica Ling, she is the one that accepts people in the nursing program. She will answer any questions you have, be best friends with her! you're going to have a lot of questions for her!

Hope this helped !

I applying again. Last year I was on the alternates list and got rejected.

Hi allinone, what was your total points when you applied last year?

I am transferring from ELAC to CSULA and I was wondering how late can I take my TEAS? and also what if I still have a writing composition class in progress in spring but all other classes are completed?

This sounds very familiar....like it came from the 2016 thread 😂
