CSULA ABSN 2016

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread started for this yet so figured I should start one! I'm applying to CSULA's ABSN program for Summer 2016 and am about to submit my application in the next few days. Who else is applying? Figured we could all support each other and keep each other updated during this nerve-wracking process :)

Thanks so much! I know a good amount of Spanish but I wouldnt say I am fluent. I do have many spanish only speaking patients so I learned a good deal of medical spanish. Maybe I can take another spanish course to increase my Spanish skills :)

Hey! Did everyone do their titers, etc. with their GP or did you go to a clinic?

Thanks.

You can get it done anywhere. Just make sure the titers have an interpretation range.

If your insurance doesn't cover titers, wellness clinic has reasonable prices. Pasadena immunization clinic (or something like that) has good prices for vaccines in case you need them.

Hey you guys! I know that the orientation was this past week. I was wondering if anything about the alternates was mentioned at all. And did all 30 accepted applicants show up? I'm on the wait list and hoping to hear back soon.

Thanks for your help!

im.sarah, I just private messaged you a bit about my stats. Hope that helps! I'm not sure if it went through because I know you have to have posted like a certain amount of times before you can message so I wanted to give you the heads up here.

Hello! thank you so much for sharing your stats with me i got your PM... i am unable to use PM due to lack of activity.

O boy my stats are not quiet strong as yours.

science courses, i received As except chem C which was from about 5 years ago. If i do retake chem, it will only avg. to B (that is if i get A this time)

I went to csulb as prenursing then found out my US status back than I was not able to apply to nursing program. so i switched to business and majored in accounting... i barely graduated.. it lowered my gpa to ~ 2.9 worked in accounting field for 2 full year and realized it wasn't for me...

And now i'm retrying to pursue my nursing dream (as i have friends who are RNs and i volunteer at Cedar Sinai... i think can do nursing :) & now US citizen!

I'm stuck between a pre-licensure bsn program which is 2.5 yrs (@ WGU) deadline July and start Oct 2016.

or try to apply to csula/csun absn (12~18 mo. start summer 2017) or even looking at UCLA mecn (2 yr start fall 2017) all deadline around Nov. 2016.

my critical thinking i received C -_- .... but i'm thinking if i should retake critical thinking class also. dont we all wish our grades were all As...but... it seems A & B is ok but not C..

.. sigh TEAS also.. havnt taken it yet... i dont feel confident to get very high score.

and possibly get CNA licence before Nov & possibly work till i start (if i get in T_T)

let me know what ya think

thanks!

I am also applying to ABSN 2017 Summer. Is there anyone who can answer my question? I graduate university in May 2017. Will I still be able to apply for ABSN 2017 Summer? I would have finished all but 1 of my prerequisites by the end of Fall 2016 semester. I really don't want to have to take a gap year. I emailed the program director but haven't heard anything from her yet. So happy that there's a thread here!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this website. I'm looking to apply to several nursing programs in a yr or so, I still have to take the science courses, which I'll be starting this upcoming fall and I already took the other prerequisites. I just got a bachelor's in another field and graduated with around a 3.6 gpa.

My question is for those of you who were accepted: What do you feel helped you the most in regards to getting into the program (experience, gpa, TEAS)? Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone,Does anyone know is oral communication a prerequisite for the CSULA ABSN program?
