Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread started for this yet so figured I should start one! I'm applying to CSULA's ABSN program for Summer 2016 and am about to submit my application in the next few days. Who else is applying? Figured we could all support each other and keep each other updated during this nerve-wracking process :)
Hiiiiiii guys!I'm a long time lurker and first time poster who's been following this thread since it started. I've also been accepted to this cohort :-) Congrats to everybody and I can't wait to meet you all!
I have a quick question about the health requirements: for the MMR, Varicella and Hep B series are we ok with just the titers? And for the Tdap and flu vaccinations it looks like we'll need to have those done right?
So excited to meet you all too! I think we need to have all the vaccines done AND the titers, except for maybe Varicella because some people may have had the chicken pox as kids and would have a positive titer from it. As far as the Tdap and Flu vaccine, there is a declination option for the Flu vaccine so I am not getting that one but I'm unsure about Tdap. I would get it.
@cd619 hey there! I asked about this as well. I was told in the email response that we need the need the blue fire card for hospital setting and that we will be receiving a list of providers we can use or we can find one ourselves. I've found a few classes offered by local hospitals. Based on the emails I've received thus far, all of the above are required. You may want to ask the coordinator if you want to be sure, she usually responds quickly.
Hey everyone,I was just wondering for those who didn't get an acceptance phone call/email, have you heard anything back from the school? I have not seen anything and am wondering if it's appropriate to call and ask at this point...
They emailed me saying that they were unable to accept me that's all.
Hi everyone! My name is Priscilla and I also applied for the 2016 absn program. I still have not had any response of a denial or acceptance, but at this late in the game I'm sure I was not accepted. I wanted to see if those of you who for in had any advice on how to improve my appilcation. I graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's in psychology and minor in neuroscience with a 3.0 in 2011. Since then I have worked as a medical assistant but not certified, I was trained on the job and have taken my pre reqs for nursing school. I have all as and bs in my pre-reqs. I have worked in the medical field for 10 years now but only 4 are back office experience. I have two years of research experience while at UCLA on a project regarding the brain morphology of schizophrenia. I have lots of volunteer work with animals but haven't volunteered in medical field since 2011 since I work every day in the medical field. The only thing I haven't taken yet is biochemistry which I am signing up for now since some of the other schools require it. Is there anything else I should specifically do to increase my chances of getting in next year? Also, I work full time and have a baby so it's hard for me to do more community service but I can fit it in if I have to, maybe I will just bring him along hehe.
Thanks in advance for any advice or help!

Second language ability helps on resume but with a lot of these programs, the initial statement of purpose is the single most important part of your application. I'd recommmend having people take a look at it. Also make sure you're answering every single part of the writing prompt.
