Discussion related to the Summer 2014 start of Cal State LA's ABSN/ELMN program.

Good question - I am thinking they want to see the values to ensure immunity. All I have is titers - my mom was not the best at keep such pesky documents! I had my titers run for my volunteer gig at LAC+USC, so should be able to get a copy of my records from them. Will need to get a Tdap though for sure.

OH - after looking at the form - there are spots for dates OR positive titers. I say just submit your records making sure there are the appropriate # of shots for each vaccine.

I had the same question! I recently had all these titers done for a CNA course, but I only received qualitative results. I have an appointment tomorrow to draw a second set to get the quantitative values just in case.

I emailed to check and yes we have to do the titers, even with immunization records. And if they don't prove immunity then we have to get booster shots and then have the titers redrawn.

I just got an email offering me a spot on the waitlist.

I hope you get in anilos81!!! I think 2 people got in from the waitlist last year so don't lose hope! You might know as soon as Monday! :)

Okay, so I know it is still a bit early, but I have been out of the loop on financial aid and student loans for a while. I completed the FASFA by the March due date and updated it today with the change in program type (2nd Bachelors) and all that. So, what do I do next? I know we still have to be "officially" accepted to CSULA, but I want to be sure I have the money to pay my first quarter's tuition. Do I make an appt with a financial aid counselor?

I don't think you need to make an appointment but you can to seek more info. For Samuel Merritt we had to fill out the 2012-2013 FASFA and the 2013-2014 FASFA bc the 2012-2013 one covers the summer quarter. FASFA only offers a certain amount per quarter for a second bachelors (it's not enough to cover the whole quarter) so we will probably have to seek out private loans if you don't have the money independently but I am sure they will go over all this at orientation. When I went to the SM orientation 2 weeks ago all I had done was fill out FASFA and they said I was right on track with everything and the program starts at the end of April so they made it seem like it's all pretty quick. I also have some websites they suggested to go to to get private loans, all the sites were specifically for students looking for loans for schools. Some of the people at orientation said they had already been approved for private loans and it only took a couple of days.

Awesome!! Thank you so much. Thinking I will go the private loan route instead of federal. Great info - very helpful.

Your welcome! From what I understood from Samuel Merritt most people do the federal loans and then get a private loan for the rest. I am not sure why, maybe the federal loans have a lower interest rate

I think it is the case if you are deferring while in school. I will shop to see where the better rates are. Thanks again. So excited to get the ball rolling.

Wait listed. Congrats to everyone who was offered admission!

Keep the faith andradejac!!! I am hoping you get in as well!
