CSUF EL-MSN Fall 2009 Applicants

Published

are there any fall 2009 applicants out there?

I was in the morning session. You? Speaking of calling, I m embarrassed to say I'm one step ahead of you:) . I called ( again) today, ( Tues), and the woman this time said they were still "mailing" out letters. Hopefully this week! I wish they would have given us a more reasonable timeline! Maybe it'll be worth all this crazy waiting !!!!

Check your mail today! I finally got my letter--I'm an alternate. The letter was postmarked April 21. Good luck to everyone else!

Specializes in anesthesia, nursing labor research, philosophy.

Congrats! Eeeek, now I'm nervous.

Good luck all.

Btw, O9, I was in the afternoon interview.

Congrats Levoila!!

Are the alternates given numbers?

My mail arrived, but nothing from CSUF. I live in LA. :(

Levoila, do you live close in OC? I hope you get in.

No numbers for the alternate list. The letter says that they offered admission to 36 applicants and that I'll be contacted is space becomes available (up until the week of August 24).

I'm not going to take the chance though, I've been admitted to CSUN's A-BSN program, so I'm looking forward to starting that on May 26. Since my goal is to become a nurse practitioner, I think it makes more sense to do a shorter program, get experience, then apply to a MSN program in the specific specialty that is my intended goal.

I live in the suburbs of LA, 31 miles from CSUF. No news might be good news! Good luck!! It seems they rejected people first, then the alternates, and maybe the offers of admission will be last.

Levoila, thank you for putting it in that way.

I sure hope that would be the case as I yet have nothing to fall back on.

I'm still waiting to hear from CSUDH and CSULB.

Well it seems that CSULB will be offering interviews (during the info session Monalisa Ward said they wouldn't be)--which would give you a better chance of selling yourself. I feel very lucky to have at least one great option, so anything else would just be icing on the cake. I didn't apply to CSUDH--it annoyed me that they required a fee to look at your materials/pre-application fee or something and in addition the fee to apply. I hope you have some good news coming your way in the next few days!:nurse:

Well, interview greatly reduces my chances because I'm not an assertive type. tanked interview so badly at CSUF that I don't actually expect too much. (So I was hoping that I would at least get into CSULB :() I But thank you for good words.

Okay, so practice with friends/family beforehand. There are tons of potential questions on this website--look them up and think through your answers--it will help you come up with experiences that be might used in answering the questions--or it might help you realize things that you can highlight about yourself that make you a great candidate. Getting more practice beforehand might help you find the confidence you have inside! Believe in yourself and prepare as much as possible so that when the day comes you are ready to demonstrate why you are the best candidate.

Going through the questions I found made me think of experiences that I've had that make me a unique applicant--it gave me a reserve of things to say when I was asked on several interviews, "Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?"

Believe in yourself! You worked hard to get through the pre-reqs and you did well--so now you have to show your interviewer that you are ready to rise to the occasion and embrace the challenge of being in an accelerated program.

And if you still don't feel confident--fake it--and eventually you'll see that you just had to believe in yourself! I wish you the best!

All good advices. I find it hard to put in practice, but still I thank you for encouragements.
