Hello! I wanted to create a thread for those interested in/planning on applying to the CSUF ABSN Fall 2020 cohort. Applications open up in a couple of days! I just wanted to know how everyone is feeling about themselves and create a place where we can talk about the process.
Don't believe there's already a thread created, but if there is, please link the thread haha

I applied to the program for 2021. Can anyone tell me how the interview process goes? What types of questions are asked? Do you know if they read our personal statements before or after the interview?
Thank you all??
Hello! I can't remember the full details of the interview but I remember it was not a live interview. It was a timed interview format on a website where we were asked 4 questions and then we had about (don't quote me on the time LOL) 2 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes where the interview program automatically records us answering the questions. I remember they gave us practice questions to get used to the interview format since we used a specific website. It was not bad at all. I don't remember other specific details but definitely prepare for basic nursing questions, I.e., why do you want to be a nurse? Something you advocate for? I don't remember if they looked at our statements before the interview but you can always highlight important relevant stuff when you answer your questions. Good luck! :)

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your help! ? What is the assessment? Is it math? If so what type of math questions are asked and is it timed ?
Hi Everyone! I'm hoping someone still follows this thread! I'm deciding between schools (if I make it through all the way) and I had a question for those currently in the ABSN program. Some programs finish in 15 months or less and this one is 2 years. I'm wondering how the pace is. Are there breaks, like Winter break? In other programs there are no breaks in between semesters, maybe 2 days. I'm trying to decide if it's better to do a 2 year program or one that finishes in less time. How do you guys feel about the program? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi! I’m currently in my second semester of the ABSN program and so far it’s going good! We get a 5 week Winter break and then like two weeks between Spring and Summer and then another 2 weeks before we start fall I believe! We still have the normal week off for thanksgiving and Spring break so that’s a little time to relax and catch up on any studying/projects! I was also looking at shorter programs before accepting this program but honestly now that I’m in it, I’m not sure how I would’ve survived a shorter program LOL!! Our first semester was super heavy and second semester is a lot calmer (thank goodness), but there’s just a lot of information. So I personally think the pace is good because I don’t feel so rushed that I can’t learn the material. Hopefully that helps a little? ?

Yes this definitely helps! The more I thought about it, the more I came to the conclusion that having breaks in between might be nice haha I definitely don't want to feel like I'm unable to absorb the material! Thank you so much for your response, this was exactly what I needed to know! I know that everyone is different, but in your opinion, do you think it's possible to work during this program?

Hi @kc2713! I applied for the 2021 cycle and just got an interview! Yay! I was wondering what your experience has been like in the program and why you ultimately chose CSUF? What do you think, in your opinion, makes this program unique and different from others? Thank you for your help! ?

Good luck!! I hope you get in!! My experience has been good so far despite COVID and the changes that we’ve had to deal with as we go along. Our first semester we were not in the hospital and just in sim lab, and this semester we were able to get in thankfully! I do like the program though! It feels a little fast sometimes but I know there are other programs out there shorter than this one so it’s definitely doable! I ultimately chose CSUF for the cost! It was between here and western university but this is 1/4 of the price of western ? ultimately I think most of the programs are all similar so you just got to decide which works best for you and where you see yourself at! I hope you hear back with good news!

Hi! So I still have my part time job but I haven’t worked my second semester because I wanted to focus on school! My first semester I worked more the first half (about 8-12 hours/wk) and then realized this was too much and needed to stop to focus on my classes! This is just me though!! I know a few people who have full time jobs and still manage to juggle school while doing so! The first semester just felt really overwhelming because it was new and we had a ton of busy work so I felt like taking a break was best for me. It is definitely doable you just gotta be super organized and prioritize your time between work, school, and you time! ☺️

Hello if anyone is still around . I can't find the point system on the website. Can someone share it again? Also, does anyone have details on CSUF program? Is it good? TIA
