CSUF ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I wanted to create a thread for those interested in/planning on applying to the CSUF ABSN Fall 2020 cohort. Applications open up in a couple of days! I just wanted to know how everyone is feeling about themselves and create a place where we can talk about the process.

Don't believe there's already a thread created, but if there is, please link the thread haha

So far all it says is background check by April 10, which I just did! No mention of a deposit yet...

I spoke to someone at CSUF and she said once our background checks are cleared then she will send us an additional email regarding making deposits and officially accepting admission ?

For the ones who will choose stay... How much is the initial payments? I receive financial aid.. so I am not so such how it works. Do you pay the full semester?

I'm not sure exactly how the payments will work. I got my first undergrad at CSUF and the financial aid was dispersed per semester to pay for the entire semester (if you accepted enough financial aid). I'm assuming it will be the same for the nursing program. I added a link with the fees for Fall 2020; we are considered Post-Bacc students. And then we will have to factor in additional expenses like scrubs, lab kits...whatever else they tell us to buy. I hope this helps!

Thank you! Also, I am thinking how is the situation to do the medical requirements, like tb tests, vaccines etc...

It might be not to focus in the topic here, but ..

Did anyone complete Developmental Psychology - life span?

I am taking this class and it is so stressful right now.. I love the subject, but the professor is asking too much.. I am not even sure why I am taking it. The counselors are not replying the emails and I am feeling that I should drop and focus in my other classes. At the same time I am afraid to do that and regret it.

I know for CSUF do not make difference, right?

If you had this class, what was for?

can someone share thoughts, advices, etc?

Hi! I took the course last semester for CSULA's ABSN program. I agree with you that it's a tough course with lots to digest. Although CSUF does not require you to take this course, many other nursing program do in case if you were planning to apply to those. If the class is causing you an insane amount of stress where it's affecting other coursework, I suggest retaking it another semester where you have an easier courseload. Hope this helps!

Hi!! I took this class online during Summer last year at Santiago canyon college and it was pretty easy! I had a good Professor and she didn’t ask for too much! I would try taking it there if possible

Hey guys, do you know how much tuition is for this program? I am going back and forth between two schools and I would like to compare the tuition.

I think it's around $25,000 maybe? If you go to tuition and fees on the website, it will tell you what they charge. CSUF does a flat rate tuition, it's not per unit. So 7 units or less is considered part-time and 8 units + is considered full-time. It's the same for nursing students to my understanding. They have it broken down by undergraduate rates and post-bacc/graduate rates. We are considered post-bacc. I believe it's around $4,000/semester, but check it out! I hope that helps! ?

Thank you @paulapocket ! ? I saw that it was around $25,000 but that seemed really inexpensive compared to other ABSN programs so I wasn't sure if there were other fees that I wasn't seeing. I was expecting the program to be around $40,000 like other schools.

@xnallyx no problem! ? I'm sure there will be additional costs for the program like buying our scrubs and books, probably some kind of lab bag, stethoscope....I'm not sure what else. But I think it's DEFINITELY much more inexpensive than other schools because of their flat rate tuition compared to paying by the unit.

Hey everyone, CONGRATS to everybody who's received their acceptance emails! I got mine on March 25. I have a question about the background check though. Do we need to send the results over to CSUF ourselves or do they receive them automatically through the background check vendor? I want to make sure I don't mess up any steps during the admission process.
