CSU Stanislaus Nursing applicants for Fall 2011?

Published

Is anyone planning to apply for the Nursing program at csu stanislaus?

Courtcatt-

Hoping you can help me with something.

I'm trying to decide on a good stethoscope. I was looking to get the Littman Master Classic because I heard it has the best sound but I am wondering if that might be a problem for pediatric patients. Considering it is one sided.

Any suggestions?

Hi Tina! Did you get your stethoscope yet? I got a Littman Classic S.E. it is double sided.

Hey Laura:) Yes I ending up getting a Littman master classic. I got really good feedback on that one. How is you summer going? I've just been studing my med term.

Really? What color did you get? My summer is going good, how about yours? I need to start studying my medical terminology! Have you gotten any of your immunizations or Cpr? I am looking into buying books and they are coming out to around $700 :(

The color I got was navy blue. I have been studing everyday a little here and there. Can you believe the prices for books??! Crazy huh? I knew it would be crazy though. Can't wait...its just around the corner!:)

Courtcatt-

I got IN!!!!!!! I was 22 on the alternate list!!!!! I'm sooo happy! I can't wait to start!!!!!

Has anybody received a list of things to do from CSU yet? I am referring to the detailed list of immunizations we need, where to go to get the background check and drug test done, what we need to buy for equipment etc. I called them in mid June and was told the list would go out end of the month but I still haven't received anything in the mail. I am a bit stressed about the immunization part because all of my records were lost in a fire so I am starting over, had some Titers done and am awaiting the results from them before I continue. My doctor is saying he needs the list to determine what's needed of course. I have looked on the CSU website for a list and cannot seem to find anything...can anyone help me out with this?

@Maria209 How many points did you have if you don't mind sharing?

I am attending Stan State's nursing program in the fall as well and am very much looking forward to it. Regarding futuremurse45's question, I just finished micro last week and went in after the final to the nursing dept and they said they are working on getting the envelopes and letters out to us in the mail soon. They said if they do not give us adequate time to get everything done they will extend the deadline for when we need our immunizations, drug tests, etc. Hopefully this answers your question.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to your question!!!! I was away on my honeymoon. All the Littmans are great...i ended up getting the cardiology and I love it. Dont get it in pink...it gets pen marks alllll over it. As far as everything you have to beforehand...dont stress....at orientation they kind of break it down for you. Maria- CONGRATS!!!!! I knew you would get in....so happy for ya!

Congratulations! I think any medical terminology book will be fine but I am using the book Medical Terminology Systems: A Body Systems Approach. Are you planning on living in Turlock? If you would like to email me my email is [email protected] : ) I would love to meet up and chat :)

Hi Laura, I'm so happy with you on getting accepted to the CSU Stanislaus nursing program. I read your earlier post that you are a transferring student to CSU Stanislaus, so I really really hope you can help me with a question. I'm am currently taking my perequisites, and hoping to apply to CSU Stanislaus on 2012. I have completed anatomy, and got a "B" in there. I still have to take Physiology and microbiology. If I completed those courses with an "A", I will be able to bring up my overall GPA to a 3.7 and perequisite GPA to a 3.6. I have some health care experiences, and I'm bilangual. Do you know what is my chance of getting into the CSU nursing program? Also, for the TEAS, I still haven't take it yet. If I get at least an 80, does that boost up my chance of getting in as well? Please respond back, and congratulation on your acceptance!!!!

iwillbeanrnoneday- Thank you! Yes, with a 3.7 Gpa you have a very good chance of getting in the program! I had a 3.7 overall, 3.4 science, and 4.0 non science. My teas was 78 and I am bilingual however, I do not have any healthcare experience. As long as you keep up with your grades and get A's and B's (mostly A's) I think you will get in the program. Good luck!:)
